The sun was out and I was already soaking it all up from the comfort of the back garden. I needed a break from.... Well everything, all the drama at the pool party, the kiss... The heart breaking talk about the kiss, the awkward glances, ignoring my best friend n and the coffee date with Chase.
My thoughts took their time, and a lot of coffee, to be processed but we got there and finally, I knew. I knew what I was thinking and feeling... although the hazeyness was still there about one subject,
Colby.
I shook his name from my mind before going back to relaxing.
~Time Skip~
Mum had decided a couple hours later that we were going to the beach. Making most of the time we had left with Colby, was how she described it. I mean it's a trip to the beach so I wasn't going to deny it, and it also gave me a much needed chance to talk to my best friend. We've been ignoring each other way too long and I missed him.
Samatha took Lila out of the car as David, Colby and I took the bags out of the boot and Caleb just, watched. "Right, have everything?" Mum questioned shutting the passenger door and waking round with Lila holding her hand.
"Yeah" Dad replied shutting the boot and locking the car with a click.
We made our way down the gravel path to the beach, I was struggling with my bags and slowed up trying to adjust them in my hands. I didn't notice someone walking closer until a hand rested underneath the one I was struggling to hold. Surprised I looked up to lock eyes with Colby.
He broke the gaze almost instantly, looking down to my hands and taking the bag before turning to walk away.
"Thanks for helping" I mumbled walking slightly quicker to catch up with him and the others.
"What are friends for" he smiled lightly, but it didn't seem to meet his eyes, and the word friend almost stuck to his mouth.
It made my heart sink but I couldn't say or do anything to make this better in front of my family... Or maybe at all.
After a little more walking the gravel turned to sand and my shoes were soon disgarded next to our things, which were now placed down. Samatha spread out a blacket and towels to sit on, as well as sticking an umbrella into the sand to give us shade. My family sat down but I decided I would go paddle in the water.
"Back in a minute I'm just going down to the sea" I told them before running off across the soft sand.
It wasn't too hot with the wind blowing against my hair and skin, though I was sure I would get sun burnt if not for the suncream I was wearing.
My (S/c) feet hit the water with a small splash and a feeling of refreshment washed over me. There was something calming about the sound of water lapping at my feet and the surrounding sand, with the distant calls of seagulls and people talking in the background. There was a strong smell of salt and a sweet scent of donuts from a cart not too far away. The wind continued to whip at my (H/l) (H/c) hair as I closed my eyes that were once watching the far blue horizon.
I stood there for a few moments before the sound of moving sand coming closer caught my ears. I didn't bother to turn towards the noise nor to open my eyes as I waited for them to make themselves known.
"It's a beautiful view" I heard a mumbled, instantly recognising the voice to be Colby's.
I hummed in response.
"I wanted to say sorry, for ignoring you" he told me "You're completely intitled to your own feelings an--"
"Colby stop" I told him calmly, finally opening my eyes and turning to him. "I'm the one needing to apologise not you, I was horrible and discarded my feelings because I was over thinking and being stupid--"
