I awoke the next morning feeling groggy. The dream had left me with an uneasy feeling in my stomach. Where are my brothers if not in heaven with her?

A chill rolled down my spine as a thought occurred to me. My mother had physically shown Betsy the future which indicates she is not entirely human.

If she is not human then she couldn't have gained entry into heaven which is why she is not with my brothers. She is in the void while they are gallivanting around heaven.

Why did come back to this town? Since being here I have learned everything I've thought is wrong. This town has stolen my life and now it's taking my childhood.

I took a quick shower then headed downstairs to raid the kitchen. Now that Violet and Foster know my secret, I don't have to hide the fact that I am constantly starving.

To my advantage Foster did attempt to exorcise his own demons last night in the form of bake goods. The entire counter was covered in plates of gooey pastries and decorated sweets.

I scarfed down three giant cinnamon rolls and a bag of blood before heading out on my bike. Since I was not due at school for a few hours I drove aimless around the country side.

The sun was just peaking above the mountains when I found myself wandering down the deserted lane on the way to my family home. I sat next to a rotted out fence post and stared at the remains of my father's house.

How simple life had been when I lived under his roof. The toughest decision I faced is knowing whether to use a scythe or Flail to harvest the grains. Now I may have to choose between my best friends and my destiny.

Foster is as lovesick as they come so I have no doubt he will side with Violet. The problem is I cannot figure out which way Violet is leaning as she is keeping this one quiet.

What if she decides to go back to the council? Could I stand back and let Henry's circle attack them or worse could I fight against them myself?

I dig my heel into the dirt. None of this seems fair but then what in any life does? I don't want anything to happen to Violet or Foster but if the choice is them or Abby.

There is no question on who I would choose. As her warrior I am forever on Abby's side no matter where that may take me or who it may put me up against.

I glanced down at my watch and that place for now is Brookville High school. I stood and was brushing the loose grass from the back of my jeans when my phone rang. "Hello?"

"I need a progress report." A familiar voice growled in my ear.

My stomach churned. This was the last person I wanted to hear from today or any day for that matter. "Katherine such a pleasure as always." I replied.

"What is happening with Abigail?" she demanded.

I cannot tell Katherine what has really been going on here in Brookville and with the link gone she wont know any different. I threw my leg over my bike.

"I'm helping her with a history project." I offered.

Katherine growled. "I expected more from you Brady. Did you think I was unaware our link had been severed?" The thought had occurred to me. I just don't care anymore.

"You choose them." Katherine said. "You fulfilled the prophecy."

A deep rooted anger boiled to the surface. After everything I heard this was the fail straw. "Did you know when you sent me here what would happen?" I demanded.

"Of course I knew." Katherine laughed. "I knew from the day you join the guard how this would end. A piece of advice warrior, stay within the borders of the garden or you'll die."
