Abby leaned against the locker next to mine. "Brady, please do it." She begged. A couple of students passing by looked our way. She stuck her tongue out at them. I stifled back a laugh.

"What could it hurt? A whooping thirty minute is all it will take." She reasoned. Yeah. It's thirty minute with Chloe. It could hurt a lot. And yet I couldn't tell her no.

"Okay." I surrendered. "You win. Show me the way." She led me by the hand into the cafeteria. I felt a sheep being led into the slaughter house. Chloe sat at a table in the back corner nearest the kitchen. She looked irritable which is bad for me.

Vince's football buddies were at the table next to ours. A couple of them leaned over to whisper something in Chloe ear. Her jaw tightened in response. Yeah. This is going to be a fantastic experience.

Abby slid into the seat next to Chloe. I opted for a chair directly away from them both. The closer I am to the exits the better I feel. "I told you he would come." Abby declared as she tore the lid off her yogurt.

Chloe smirked. "So you did."

"You owe me a milkshake." Abby laughed. "Triple Cherry Vanilla."

Great. I am super thrilled to be the subject of a bet. Chloe gave me a head nod. I returned it with a half-smile glare. Abby elbowed Chloe in the ribs. "You promised."

Chloe sighed. "Okay Geesh Abby give me a second."

Chloe took a deep breath. "Brady. I apologize for my recent behavior. I was offensive, rude, and insensitive. I hope we can put it behind us going forward."

Now I'm a little scared. "Umm apology accepted." I replied.

She looked over at Abby, who seemed by the giant smile on her face to be satisfied. Okay. Now this makes sense. Chloe is putting on a show for Abby's benefit.

"I am glad we could patch things up." I could play this game too. "Abby needs all her friends right now." Chloe looked as if she could spit nails at me right now.

We both looked away from each other to Abby. She was mid bite into a slice of pizza. "What are you looking at?" I took the opportunity to excuse myself.

I grabbed a bottle of water from the vending machine. When I returned a few chairs had been filled by friends of Abby's from the cheer team. Abby introducing each girl by name. She made a special point to introduce me to Ashlynn Jenkins the co-captain of her cheer squad.

"Hello. It's a pleasure to meet all of you." I greeted the bunch of wide eyed girl. Most of them giggled in response but one girl with curly black hair named Kris, laughed.

"Well aren't you all mister formal." She remarked. "Nah. I'm playing with you. These dopes next to us could use a lesson on how to speak to a lady." She tossed an orange at one of guys wearing a backwards baseball cap.

He tossed a fry back. "Show us a lady and we might." This launched a full scale verbal battle on which gender is the superior one. By the time the bell rang the battle had spread to including four tables.

Abby was approached by a girl with glasses as we left the cafeteria. "Ronald knocked over the proofs for the sports section. We need help putting everything back." She looked close to tears. "We go to print at Four o'clock."

"I have to go. Sorry guys." Abby waved. She rushed off in the opposite direction leaving me walking down the hall with Chloe.

"I'll see you around." I muttered.

Chloe grabbed my arm. "Hang one a second. I don't like you. The problem is Abby knows Foster is her brother. So I have no chance of convincing her to stay away from you three."
