Chapter 21: Upon a Foggy Meeting!

(Episode 40 of Pokemon XY)

Cayla hummed as she stood in line with her team. Everyone was bustling in the morning, excited about the Pokemon Orienteering competition they were about to begin.

"How's your head?" Ash whispered, leaning over to her.

"I have a bit of a headache, but I took some medicine." She admitted. When Cayla saw Ash's frown she knew she'd have to take a drastic measure. "Of course even with my headache we'll still win." She winked.

The male laughed. "Well theres no way that we're giving up!"

"I wouldn't expect you too."

Ash smiled again, holding out a fist. Cayla beamed, meeting his fist in a fist bump.

The first checkpoint was at the top of some high cliffs.

"Leave it to me." Mikky hummed. "Flareon I need your assistance!"

"Flareon!" The fire type yawned before they started climbing. Flareon went first, able to tell the strong rocks from the weak ones using temperature. Mikky followed his Pokemon, leaping onto the last rock and then pulling Flareon up with him.

Ash had gotten there before them, but Mikky was there before Tierno. They stamped the map, and started jumping down with ease, Flareon landing on Mikky's head once they reached the bottom. "Got it!"

"Yay!" Mady cheered.

"Great job!" Cayla praised before they headed off.

Checkpoint to was crossing a long, narrow bridge.

"My turn!" Mandy said confidently. "Vivillon!" A gorgeous Vivillon popped out of the Poke-Ball. Instead of pink wings like Viola had, Mandy's Vivillon had red, orange, and yellow wings towards the top, but blue on the bottom, if Cayla remembered right the pattern was known as the Ocean Pattern.

Mandy and Vivillon started down the bridge, Vivillon stayed perched on the girl's head for the most part. When a strong gust of wind was coming Vivillon would separate, and Mandy would clutch the side for safety. Because of this tactic they were the first for the second stamp.

The third check point was a maze of tunnels.

"CC, assistance." Cayla said softly, tossing up her Poke-Ball. "Leave this to me!" She told her team before walking into the tunnel.

With the flame on CC's head it was easy to see where they were going. The tunnels were dark, and twisted, so in order to stay safe they walked a bit slowly. Cayla left herself makers, ones that people would only notice if they were looking for them, and occasionally he would hold out a dampened finger to search for a stream of air.

"In Infernape!" 'We made it!' CC cheered as they exited the cave to the check point.

Together they stamped the card, and followed the barkers out. Since they didn't get lost they made it first. "Thanks CC." Cayla smiled, returning him to his Poke-Ball.

After completing many more checkpoints Team Cyndaquil was finished. As they walked through the forest to finish line a thick fog rolled in.

"Guys we should stay close." Cayla muttered, looking around. She froze when she got no response. "Mandy? Mikky?" She yelled, looking around frazzled. Biting her lip, she tossed out her Poke-Balls. CC's flame gave her some light, and Ro could help navigate, Dawn was their for emotional support. Sensing their jobs Ro and CC stood in front of Cayla, while Dawn jumped in her arms.

"Thanks." She whispered to them, following through the fog.

"Cateli?" A coo caused them to freeze, and for Ro and CC to freeze.

Cayla blinked in alarm. It was the same light blue, two tailed Pokemon from her dream. "You...You were in my dream!" She marveled.

"Cateli!" 'I am.'

"Why are you here?" Cayla asked.

The Pokemon smiled. "Teli Ca Cateli Catel." 'You're not ready for me to join you yet, but you're close. Through their is a path, follow it.'

Cayla turned to where Cateli had pointed with it's nose. She turned black and the Pokemon was gone. Frowning slightly, she sighed. "Okay, lets go." She urged.

"Infer?" 'You sure?' CC asked.

"Yes." She nodded. "Cateli said I'm not ready yet, for whatever reason I need to be ready for, but when I am, we'll meet again."
