"Mom, Dad I'll be fine, I promise!" Geoun smiled as she tried to get her parents out of her now set up dorm room. Key word, tried.
"Geoun baby we are just so worried about you! Our baby girl is going off to college! Now what will we do without you and your brother home?" Goeun's mother easily scooted past her daughter and laid on the bed while pretending to whine.
Geoun rolled her eyes, but her smile never left her face as she pulled her mother up.
"You know he's about to get out of the army! And besides, he never got himself a girlfriend so he'll have to live with you guys. Now can you please leave before my roommates get here and you embarrass me?" Geoun was now pushing her laughing parents out of her dorm room.
"Oh sweetie we know. It's just going to be so weird without you home. I don't know what we're going to do to fill the silence." Geoun's father teased as they made their way to the elevator.
"I know!" Geoun's mom exclaimed as the elevator doors opened and the three stepped inside. "We can catch up on all the sleep we were drained of from raising you and your brother!"
Geoun let out a laugh as the elevator doors closed and they began to descend to the ground floor. The ride down was silent, and when the doors finally opened revealing the ground floor, the family stepped out. As they arrived at her parents' car, a wave of emotion hit Geoun and she suddenly pulled her mother into a tight hug.
"Baby are you okay?" Geoun's mother stroked her daughter's hair as she returned the hug.
"I'm gonna miss you guys so much!" Geoun took a deep breath and steadily let it out to keep from crying. After a few moments, her mother pulled away from the hug and Geoun's dad now engulfed his daughter in a big warm hug.
"We're gonna miss you too sweetheart," Geoun's dad released her from the hug and stood in front of her while wrapping an arm around his wife as they looked back at their daughter. "But we gotta go, it's a long drive back home."
"I love you guys so much!" Geoun rushed forward for another hug to her parents. As she let go and stepped away, she gave them a big smile. "Let me know when you get home?"
"Of course sweetheart! We love you!" Geoun's parents got in their car and the girl waved to them as they drove off.
Geoun stood outside waving to her parents until she could no longer see them, she then turned around and headed into the building. As she went to grab her room key from her pocket on her way to the elevator, Geoun's eyes widened and she began to panic. It wasn't in her pocket.
She closed her eyes and groaned as she remembered setting it down on her desk to pull her mom off the bed. Geoun looked around and walked toward the front desk.
"Um, excuse me," she got the attention of the security guard at the desk.
"What?" He sounded kind of rude, so Geoun took a breath before answering.
"I uh, left my room key in my room on accident. Is there a way for me to get in?"
"First day here, and someone's already locked out. What room are you in?" He rolled his eyes as he turned to get the master key and a piece of paper from a notebook.
"3019."
"3019?! Hey that's my room, I can let you in!" A new voice entered the conversation.
Geoun turned around and saw a dark haired girl walking towards her. She had a bright smile and looked like a model. As she stopped next to Geoun, the girl reached out her hand.
"Hi! I'm Lisa!" Geoun took the girl's hand and shook it. "Come on, let's go on up. I know our other roommates will be here soon."
"Oh thank you! I'm Geoun by the way. Um, do you need any help?" Geoun had to take longer strides to keep up with Lisa as they both headed towards the elevator.
