Amber's POV
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. It was 9AM. I had to go to work in two hours, so I went to change into my working clothes. I had to meet Iris beforehand, so I called her. I knew she would be awake by now. After hours upon hours, thinking last night whether I shouldn't or should come out to Iris, I finally made a decision to tell her.I was really nervous, walking to The Spoon. I told Iris to meet me at a booth before my shift started.
"Hey, Amber. What did you want to tell me?"
"Well, um... you know how the other day, I was telling you that I've never had a crush?"
She nodded. I began talking again, "Well, I Iied. I do have a crush. But I just didnt want to tell you because I was scared."
She looked confused. "Scared of what?"
I began tearing up as I focused my stare at the floor. I knew if I looked her in the eyes, I would cry even more
She reached towards my hand which was fiddling my bracelet. "You can tell me anything." She said.
That's when I couldn't control my tears anymore and they streamed down my face. I finally looked at her and said, "I'm gay."
The words seemed so simple and so easy to say, but at the same time, they were hard to admit to someone simply because I was afraid that they wouldn't accept me.
"Amber." She said softly as she grabbed both of my hands. "I'm so proud of you for telling me."
I looked at her and cried even more. She came over to my side of the booth and hugged me. I accepted the hug.
"I'm glad you told me because, now I can tell you that I'm bi."
I pulled away from the hug and smiled. "Thank you for telling me!"
I hugged her some more and then wiped my tears away. "I have to start my shift. I'll see you later?'
"Yeah. Bye, Amber." She said as she headed out the door.
An hour later, my brother came in. I asked him to join me outside so I could tell him about what happened. He was really happy for me and he even told me that he was thinking about telling his friends that he was gay. But he just didn't know how they'll react.
"I'm sure they'll react just fine. If they really are your friends, then they should accept you." I told him.
He smiled and gave me a hug, "You're right, thanks, sis. You're the best."
I chuckled, "I know."
"You know what? I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna come out to them!"
"Wait, right now?"
"Yeah, right now. Bye, Ambs."
"Ok, good luck." I told him.
I really hoped it all went well.
