I couldn't escape the pain in my arm. It burned me, weakened me as I flitted in and out of consciousness. I couldn't stop it. I had felt the gold enter my blood, poisoning my whole body as it circulated. I heard my name being called and I heard it echo around my head. I drifted into consciousness and saw Wayland and Dylan crouching over me.

"Jayde, hold on. Dylan, stay calm but this is going to hurt her." Wayland sounded panicked.

"Jayde, I'm so sorry! I'm sorry!" Dylan wailed.

"One, two, three, mist!"

I felt them lift me and move my arm, which made me cry out in pain. My arm felt like it was being stabbed by a thousand gold knives now, it was unbearable. Then I felt solid ground beneath me. I saw Wayland and Dylan towering over me against the early morning sky, and cried out once more as they tried to lay my arm down gently, more of my white blood dripped into the ground. As my cries slowly quieted I heard other voices and saw some figures running towards us as the others came out of the institute.

"Wayland where did you go?! Oh shit! Jayde!" I heard Kat shout as Ava screamed with realisation, their faces contorted with horror.

"What happened to her?!" Daemon demanded.

"Get her to Aquarius now!" PC ordered everyone, his eyes gleaming with fear.

"This will hurt and I'm sorry." Denny said hastily in my ear. My arm burned as if it was the sun, and even though my arm was supported and I fought to keep quiet I still cried out and sobbed in furious agony. But somewhere inside of me, my still sane senses felt myself moving. Then I heard someone mist.

"What is going on here? Good God!" I heard Capricorn gasp as he saw me, covering his mouth with one hand. "Get her to Aquarius now! Quickly! Virgo, run ahead. You too Gemini."

I heard my own screams when they misted and again when they carried me over to one of the beds in Aqua's office. Then my arm throbbed sending a wave of pain up my arm so great that Wayland and Ava struggled to hold me down as I thrashed about in my suffering, more of my blood gushing out of the long wound as I struggled. I wanted to end myself, just to put me out of my misery. I tried to lift my right arm, but Denny held it down firmly even though I struggled. Then I saw Aqua run towards me with a needle in her hand.

"She won't like this so hold her down." She warned the others and I saw and felt the hand holding me down tighten. Then Aqua stabbed me with the needle and injected me with its contents, sending even greater pain shooting down my arm. I couldn't take it, I was shouting, and then somehow I was able to gain control of my vision for three seconds and I saw Ava standing over me.

"Please make it stop."I begged her, sobbing.

"I can't. It will help you." She tried to reassure me. Then I felt another injection, and pain flooded through my body again.

"KILL ME!" I cried. Then I blacked out once more, descending into agonising darkness and nothing.

Dylan sat in Libra's office, his sobs turned into gasps as he tried to regain control. He had never felt so responsible for something so bad before, and that was without his personal feelings. He had more or less caused the girl he loved to get almost fatally injured. Her screams echoed in his ears, everyone of them causing him to cringe internally. And her cry for death, that cry was the worst he had ever heard, the begging agony of it. He blinked back his tears and tried to breathe evenly.

"Do you feel a bit better Aries?" Libra asked in a gentle motherly manner, sitting beside him. "This must be quite a shock for you."

"Yes, especially when Aqua injected her. What was in the needle anyway?" Dylan stuttered.

"That was liquid silver. We have a, I guess you could call it a fatal allergy, to gold since we say it is connected to the sun, so to counteract the gold, Scorpio was given silver, which we connect to the moon. We can't do anything if we are in any way contacting gold; it is the only thing that weakens us." Libra looked at Dylan with a sad expression on her face.

"I'm sorry. I just thought that she couldn't...um." Dylan was lost for words as he tried to describe his emotions.

"Dylan", Libra said using his first name; "you love her, don't you?" Dylan nodded. "I understand why you might be attracted to her. She's a powerful Shadow and a very good friend if she opens up to you. She seems invincible doesn't she?" Dylan just nodded again. Libra sighed.

"Sadly we can still die, and we are not as impenetrable as we like to think. Even we have flaws."

"I just feel so responsible for her." Dylan whispered.

"Could you tell me what happened?"

"Yes, um, okay. We misted and arrived in Central Park, then I had to rest a bit since I wasn't used to misting. Then we misted to the roof of the EmpireStateBuilding, and we stopped to rest again because of me. Then as we were talking we got surrounded by five people, two girls and three boys who looked the same age as us, but they had gold and red eyes and that made them seem very inhuman. They were threatening us, so we attacked, but I had trouble with misting and all my abilities, so I was still fighting one of the boys when Jay finished with everyone else. She shouted at me to mist through the boys chest and when I did I came out holding his... um...lyte. But I dropped it and the boy came alive again. Then as she told me about how his lyte would make him live again I saw him get behind her, and I shouted at her to duck, but she turned too late. When he cut her arm I got so mad that I didn't even realise that I had misted until I had gone through his chest again and absorbed his lyte. I tried to help Jay but she told me to call and get help, so Wayland came and we got back here. But when we arrived we had to put her on the ground and she was screaming." Dylan's voice broke into new sobs as he relived his worse nightmare.

"Oh, you should try not to blame yourself with this horrible event. Scorpio got injured in battle, and next time you will not give back someone's lyte. Aquarius has informed me that Scorpio is stable and resting for the moment, but she should wake up tomorrow."

"Thank you Libra, for everything." Dylan said gratefully.

"It's no a problem, but you should go and get some rest. Dismissed." Dylan stood up shakily, left Libra's office, went to his room and fell asleep tormented by his memories of Jay, wounded, crying, bleeding, unconscious and being watched by those burning, yellow and red eyes.
