Envelopes

79 18 5

Floating above my head
Is a giant whirl
Of different envelopes
Date stamped, time stamped
Stimulatingly color coded
Based on their importance
In an order
Which is very disorderly.
An envelope zooms in
An envelope zooms out
Carrying every message
Every minute , every second
Of every year
Every decade
Rushing in and out
In wild disarray.
I am the post man
Given the task
Of keeping them
Of sorting them
Of prioritising some
Of tearing down some
Of recycling some
Of reinventing some
For my ring master
Who controls this all
Who has to stay organised
To run all this mess
And come off as organised.
The ring master now
Wants what happened
Last year, this date
That year, that day.
Wait I am struggling here
To segregate through
This unviable clutter.
Some envelopes randomly hit
Not knowing that they
Are significantly insignificant
Right here, right now.
I somehow manage to find it
That made the ringmaster
Associate an emotion to
Last year, this date
That year, that day
Because I am the postman.
Delivering just on time
Through all this
Clutter and clumsiness.
