Daffodils

Bright and yellow
My heart here mellow-
As my hands softly lay
On these daffodils I say.

My lace frock frilly,
On this morning chilly
Patting these petals
A hummingbird settles.

My pigtails full of life
Cutting through wind like knife
Lowering my head-
I sniff in all to be said.

I lean back into the breeze
Will let it carry me away- please?
My shoulders melting softly
While I tremble with glee.

'Hey lovely! It's time!
Come let's have some lime!"
My shoes squeak as I scurry-
Mom has asked me to hurry.
