Chapter 47

"Gidget!" Max barked happily.

"Max!" Gidget yipped, her fluffy tail wagging.

"Hu! Laohu!" Snowball and Daisy cried at the same time. The two tigers mewed and purred.

"Buddy!" Mel cheered while Buddy replied, "Mel!" This earned both dogs a whack on the back of the head from Chloe. "Guys, enough of your shenanigans! This is a reunion!" the gray tabby cat hissed. Rubbing his head, the pug whined, "But I thought we were doing the Name Game..." The feline rolled her green eyes in annoyance. Meanwhile, everyone else watched the lost animals chat with their pals.

"Oh my god, what happened to you?"

"You won't believe what I found..."

"You two are so adorable..."

"...Captain Snowball can't be seen crying... but I am!"

"I was so worried about you!"

"Wait, you were worried... about me?" Gidget asked Max, surprised by his words. Realizing what he had just said, the Jack Russell terrier blushed a bright red as he mumbled, "Yeah. Yeah I was." Her heart melting while her tail wagged nonstop, the fluffy white Pomeranian blushed the same shade of red.

"Aw..." a whole crowd of their friends remarked, their own hearts melting at the sight.

"Perfect, you two are in love with each other," Pops piped up in a sweet voice before switching to gruff and adding, "It's still gross for everyone else. This goes to you two as well." The elderly basset hound directed the second part of his statement towards Hu and Laohu, who were nuzzling each other. Looking up with wide eyes, the two tigers mewed at the same time. Standing next to them, Snowball and Daisy were having an emotional moment.

"Our baby boy... becoming a man- well, tiger. Still..." Snowball mumbled, his blue eyes leaking tears of joy while he swiped his paw over his little nose. Her own eyes watering, Daisy passed the white rabbit a tissue box as she agreed, "He's making his mama proud... and his mama is me." Looking over at her, Snowball pointed out, "Hey, he's making his papa proud too and that would be me."

"You guys had a tiger for a child?" Mel asked, confused. He was whacked on the head by Chloe again.

"Max, we're in trouble. That circus owner has sent a lion after us," Gidget told Max, remembering Leo. His eyes widening, the terrier replied, "Yeah, we know. We went back to the circus to look for you and Laohu but found out the wolves and the lion were out hunting us down." Nodding his head in agreement, Rooster piped up, "So far, no sign of the wolves or lion over here."

"Rooster, I think you might want to double check yourself on that," Duke piped up, pointing over at the open window where Sergei's wolf pack of four were waiting. Baring their teeth, they launched themselves into the apartment.
