The following Friday was homecoming. She came in with her dair hair in all curls in her ponytail. Natasha pulled her into the bathroom "Let me fix you up." She said as she fixed her make up and added some glitter to her hair.
"Natasha..' she whispered.
Natasha added "Go Panthers" to her cheek. Then on her other cheek she drew a football that said "HOCO '19,"
"All done." Natasha said
"Thanks." She said then went to her locker.
Bucky was waiting for her. "Were you waiting for me?" She said
"I was. What took you so long?" He said
"Natasha." She said
"Oh anyways. What are you doing after the game tonight?" Bucky said
"Going home" she said
"Come to the dance with me?" He said
"Buck.." she said
"Just as friends Maisie. Come on it will be fun." He said
She chewed the inside of her lip. She sighed and said "fine."
"Great..so text your mom so she knows that you have plans for tonight. And I will see you later" he said
"Yeah" she said
She texted her mom that she was going to the dance. Lydia was so excited she called the school to see what kind of dance it was. Once she knew it was semi formal she called her sister in law Stacy.
During her lunch break she went over to Stacy's house. She gave her one of Maisie's cousins dress heels and clutch.
That during the last minute of the game the girls were allowed to leave to get ready. Lydia helped her get ready. "Mom stop..we are going as just friends." She said
"Baby this is your first dance." Lydia said
Maisie walked out as Lydia left with her bag. Bucky looked up when he heard heels. He swallowed hard "You look beautiful." He said

They walked to the dance in the school's gym. The first song they dance to was "Here Tonight" by Brett Young.
Steve did a double take when he seen them. "What the hell?" He whispered.
"Yeah..he apparently asked her this morning." Wanda said
"I thought he was going to go with Addie Jo." Steve said
"He changed his mind." Sam said.
"Maisie.." Bucky whispered as "Wanted" started to play.
She looked up at him "Wow." He said
"What?" She said confused.
"Your eyes..I guess I never paid attention." He said

She looked down. "Anyways ..um I want to invite you to something." He said.
"Your birthday?" She said
"No...you know when my birthday is. My mom always invited the whole class." He said
"Actually I don't." She said
"My birthday is in March. But anways I will bring you the thing on Monday. And I hope you come to it." He said.
"Okay." She said
They danced a few more songs then mingled with a few friends. Around 11 his parents picked them up. He walked her to her door.
He hugged her then kissed her cheek. "See you Monday." He said
"See you Monday." She said as she unlocked her door.
That Monday she opened her locker a orange folded up piece of paper fell out.
She opened it up to read.
"Barnes & Rogers Band Show October 1st at 7pm @ Rogers Farm. BYOB (Bring Your Own Blanket)"
She let out a laugh at the blanket. She flipped it over to read.
"Valerie said she has clothes for you..and she can bring you. -Bucky"
She bit her lip and put the flyer in her backpack.
