Laxus x Reader- Please, Protect Me

"Maybe you should just try to talk to him?" Mira leaned over the bar where she was cleaning a beer mug as usual.

"Talk to him? You do realize who we're talking about right?" We both laughed as she went back to work and I finished my food. Mira grabbed my plate and put it in the sink before turning around and giving me one of her famous smiles.

"Laxus isn't that bad, you of all people should know that." I sighed knowing she was right. I had been at the guild since I was a baby, like most of the members here, however I had literally been raised here. Master Makarov said that he had found me in front of the guild, wrapped in a blanket and placed in the stereotypical basket and note. So I was raised by Macao and became kind of like the older sister of the guild mates.

Laxus, being there for as long as I was, became one of my closest friends. However, we grew apart when he formed the Thunder Legion and became S-class. Plus, the torture and humiliation he caused the guild was a major cause of that. But once he was allowed back in, I couldn't help the joy that over came me. Of course Mira noticed my mood change when he was around and had been trying to get me to talk to him for weeks.

My thoughts were interrupted when a man wearing a fur coat sat down next to me. He ordered his usual and patted my head.

"How ya doin' short stuff?" He tussled my (h/c) hair and gave a hearty laugh. I fixed my hair, trying to hide the growing blush creeping across my cheeks.

"Here you are Laxus." She gave him his food and me a look that said 'do it soon or I'll tell him' and then gave a too innocent smile. "So, how was your last job?"

Right before he could speak, Natsu ran over and smashed Laxus' face into the table.

"I totally got you!" Natsu laughed and Mira and I backed away, afraid of what was coming. Lightning started to show around the S-class wizard as Natsu continued to laugh. "You should've seen how easy you-" He was interrupted by a strong fist to the face. Getting up from the pile of tables he was surrounded in, Natsu flashed a very optimistic smirk. "Oh it's on!"

Soon the whole guild was in on the brawl. I was trying my best to avoid it but when I tried to hide behind the bar Mira said only one person was allowed behind there. So I was basically screwed.

I had just dodged Natsu and Gray's attacks when I saw a table flying towards me. Since I couldn't move fast enough, I was waiting for the force of the impact, but it never came. Instead I felt fur rub against my arms. I turned around and saw Laxus had his arm around my waist and my back pushed to his chest. I pushed off of him and he started laughing.

"Jeez, you really need my protection don't you (y/n)?"

"I don't need you to protect me Laxus." I sighed and stood up, only to be hit by a flying stool. I sat back down while Laxus laughed harder than ever before. He grabbed my shoulder and brought me in again, resting my face on his vibrating chest. When he stopped laughing he wiped his eyes and hugged me a little tighter.

"It's okay to admit you need me, ya know?"

"Laxus, I don't-"

"Just say it." I gasped and pushed away to look up at him. His cheeks were flushed and he cleared his throat when I didn't answer. "Say you want me to protect you."

"I-I want you to p-protect me." He leaned over and pushed his lips against mine. Taking advantage of my shock he slipped his tongue past my lips. I finally kissed him back and deepened it. He pulled away and I saw his face deepen in color.

"D-don't look at me like that." I laughed at how flustered he was and kissed his cheek, standing up as the fight calmed down. He watched me stand and I smiled down at him causing him to look away.

"Hey Laxus." He stood up and stared curiously at me. "How about you protect me tonight, say 7 o'clock at the little cafe outside Fairy Hills?" He gave me a confident nod and headed towards Bixlow and Freed.

"See you at 7, (y/n)."

Sitting back down at the bar, I allowed the smile I had been forcing back to grow. Mira jumped up and down as she sang about how perfect we were.
