I finally get what you mean (a foster-keefe story)

That boy

"Who? Fitz?" Sophie stared at her foot still playing dumb
"No.that boy is the one I'm talking about" Grady said
"Oh,you mean dex!" Sophie said
"Sophie" Grady's voice had a warning edge to it
"Okay,fine. We can talk about Keefe" Sophie said her shoulders drooping in defeat "but can we at least do it in the living room? I want to be comfy when I die of embarrassment"
"Fair enough" grady walked into the living room Sophie following him very,very slowly. Once she finally sat down he immediately started talking
"You know I love you right?" Grady asked Sophie
"Of corse I know that" Sophie said as she looked around the room noticing Edaline was no where to be seen
"Well I want you to be happy. And if Keefe makes you happy then so be it. But he has to prove he's worthy."
"You did not just say that. What about when he went with me to get my abilities fixed? Or when he ran away to the black swan with me? Or when he went with me to ravagog? Or when he went to help me save my human parents? Or when he got banished with me and had to go to exilum? Or Mt.Everest? Or the many,many other times he helped me not die? Or how he was at my side every time I did almost die? Our window sleepovers,helping rehabilitate silviny? And those are just off the top of my head." Sophie recalled all that and more of when Keefe had helped her out and/or sacrificed for her
"Okay,but Fitz did that too. And he still broke your heart" Grady pointed out
"He didn't 'break my heart'. He was a jerk and a narcissist. He didn't actually care about me,at least not like Keefe does" Sophie whispered
"You really like him that much huh?" Grady asked
"Yes,I really,really do" Sophie said
"I guess I'm okay with him then. But if he breaks your heart he's dead" Grady had a look in his eye that made Sophie not want to test him
"Noted. Are we done here?" Sophie asked antsy to see Keefe- no,her boyfriend again
"Yes,for now" Grady said
"Okay bye,love you dad" she kissed him on the cheek and leaped out of the house and to candleshade. She walked up the dark path to the doors and knocked three times hearing it echo inside the house
"So,the famous Miss.foster returns" Lord Cassius opened the door wider and stepped aside,inviting Sophie in. For some reason after that conversation with Grady Sophie felt a little sassy
"No thanks,I'm actually here to take Keefe away from this little skyscraper of horrors" Sophie crossed her arms as lord Cassius sneered
"Very well then,if that's how you feel" he said through a fake smile "Keefe! Your little play thing is here!" He called up the stairs.Sophie herd the staircase whirl to life as Keefe came down
"Hello,Sophie. How nice to see you,what brings you here?" Keefe said still wilting in his fathers presence
"I'm here to take you and do something fun together, so you don't have to deal with him" she shot Cassius a venomous glare. Keefe perked up a little bit smiling slightly
"Yes,I would love to" Keefe said joining her outside "good bye father" he nodded as Sophie created a path for them he touched her shoulder as she was about to step into the light but she hesitated a moment,instead she turned to keefe's father looked him straight in the eyes,and flipped him off. She didn't have time to see his reaction because she put her toe into the path right after she did it,but she knew he saw it,and it was a great feeling.they glittered into view on top of a hill that was surrounded by more hills all covered in trees. But the trees were odd,because the trunk looked like a palm tree but the tops looked like big clouds of fluff,silky and smooth and thin,in all different colors kind of like the doctor.seuss trees from the Lorax book she read when she was little
"Why did you bring me here?" Keefe asked
"I...honestly don't know. I chose a path at random,I just wanted to get away from your dad" Sophie said
"He has that effect on most people" Keefe said his shoulders slouching
"Let's not worry about him. Besides you'll move out once you get out of the elite towers"
"To where?" Keefe asked sitting down on the hill with bright red grass covering it,and looking up at the sky which was filled with big fluffy white clouds
"In with me" Sophie sat down next to him,blushing furiously when she realized what she said. Keefe didn't seem to mind because he just said
"Yeah,that'll be nice. You and me in a house of our own" he laid down. She decided to run with it
"Maybe kids one day" Sophie said laying down with him
"Yeah! And animals. Like maybe a cat" Keefe murmured
"They have those here?" Said asked. She had seen plenty of animals but never a cat in the lost cities,so she thought they only lived in the forbidden cities
"Sure we do,they're just not very common,but I know you love cats so we should get one"
"How do you know that?" Sophie asked not remembering if she ever told him
"Fitz told me you used to have a cat,and how you saved it from almost dying on the streets. What's up with you and almost dying? You saved iggy and your cat from almost dying and you've almost done it a million times yourself" Keefe pointed out
"I dunno" Sophie shrugged "I guess I just take a lot of risks"
"Like being with me" Keefe whispered it
"What? What would you ever say that Keefe?"
"Because. You're the most powerful person in the world Sophie,and instead of being with someone as awesome as you,you chose me,the empath with daddy and mother dearest issues"
"So what? You want be to be with the shade with daddy issues instead? I don't care what the rest of the world thinks Keefe,all that matters is that I'm with you. I could be in the middle of the desert with no water for miles and miles and you could make me happy as can be. I could be in the middle of a rain storm with no shelter and no way to get out and you could make me laugh so hard my sides hurt.you make me the happiest being in the world Keefe. When you get like this,it-it breaks my heart" Sophie said frowning
"Really?" Keefe asked disbelief filling his voice
"Really" Sophie said
