It's the middle of sophmore year. Everyone is bored to death in first period. Chloe, my best friend, is right next to me in my English class. Since our teacher, Mr. Goldenburg, is anything but entertaining we usually just stare at the clock waiting for the torture to end.
Chloe has been my best friend ever since second grade, which was when I moved to Chicago. She was the first person I met, since she's my neighor and all. She has blonde long, straight hair and chocolate brown eyes. Her signature look is just jeans and a T-shirt, but on special occasions you might catch her in a dress. Chloe hates dresses with a burning passion, but she'll wear one if she has to.
Ding! Ding! The bell chimed as we all darted toward the door. "Don't forget the test on Friday!" Mr. Goldburg called after us.
"Speaking of Friday," Chloe said. "Are you ready to cheer Gaven on?"
I laughed. "You know it!"
Gaven has been my boyfriend for a year now. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He's charming, friendly, and the captin of the school football team. We met at a restaurant, where he was our waitor. He started to flirt with me and when he handed me my plate of spagetti, he slipped his number on my plate. Then, just like that we started talking. I soon found out that he went to the same school as me and that he was on the football team. He said that he really wanted to get to know me, so that's how our relationship started.
Every Friday night there was a football game so I always go to support Gaven and the team. Our school mascot is a tiger so our football team is called The Tigers. They have been winning since day one. I don't understand football at all. All I understand is that a touchdown is when they scored a point.
When we got to my locker, Chloe stated, "Prom is coming up."
I put in my combination, then opened my locker. I turned to face Chloe. "Chloe, it's a month away."
"So? Can't a girl be excited?"
I shrugged.
"Did Gaven ask you yet?" Chloe asked eagerly.
I slammed my locker door shut. "Chloe. Again, it's a month away. And no, he didn't ask."
"I just wanted to know!" She said defensively.
I smiled at her. "Do you have a date yet?"
Chloe shook her head. "No."
I put my arm around her. "Don't worry, Chloe. "It's a month away. You've got plenty of time."
Chloe smiled up at me. "Thanks. And Gaven is totally going to ask you out! I can feel it."
Then the bell rang, and we both walked to class with beaming smiles on our faces.
