"Can I go outside?" You ask dully, for the fourth time this evening.

"No you may not." Herobrine turns the page of the book he's reading.

"Please? What are the odds that Null will attack right when I go outside?"

"Perhaps he's lying in wait for you in an attempt to snatch you away as soon as you're vulnerable."

"Why wouldn't he just kidnap me when I'm alone in the cabin, then?"

"Maybe he can't see you. Regardless, why do you think I'm here?"

"I don't think your logic holds up."

"Fortunately it doesn't need to." You sigh, lying back over the arm of the chair. About 24 hours have passed since Steve left, and there was no sign of his return yet. They were steadily whittling away at the remainder of their supplies, hopefully he gets back soon. And you still weren't allowed out out of the house. You were, quite literally, getting cabin fever.

"What are you reading?" You ask idly.

"A book."

"Yeah, genius, I can tell. What book?

"A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens."

"A Christmas...?" You sit up. "I didn't know there was classic literature in Minecraft."

"Typically, there isn't." He turns the page. "When the Book and Quill was added, several thousand years ago, I discovered how to copy large amounts of text into them. I've been collecting books for thousands of years now, some my own writing, but most collected from the internet."

"You can access the internet?"

"Y/N, I transported myself out of the game and into your room. Of course I can access the internet." You huff.

"Well, when you put it like that..."

"Most of my collection was, unfortunately, lost when the manor was destroyed." His face visibly falls, and you slump a little bit in your seat. That's right, the library was where the explosions started. "I managed to recover some of my favorites, however, so at least there's that."

"Mm." You glance at the stack of books on the floor next to his chair - that must be the remains of his collection. This was the first time you've seen them in the cabin, he must have had them on his person. "What kinds of books did you write?"

"I kept several journals, mostly for my own reference while I learned to play the game. However, I lost them long ago. The only one I have left which I authored myself is a small guide on finding diamonds."

"Can I see?"

"Of course." He reaches down to the stack beside him, pulling a thin volume out of the center of the stack and holding it out towards you until you come and collect it. As you return to your seat, you look at the cover - "Diamonds" is all that's written on it.

You flip through the first few pages, and find general pieces of information - such as which layers diamond ore will spawn on - at first, but further on, you find detailed sketches and diagrams of optimal mining strategies, the safest way to secure caves, strip mining large areas, and so on.

"Did you do all this yourself?" You ask aloud, examining the sketches on the pages. The lines are smooth and straight with little variation, almost mechanical.

"Yes. That book is a summary of my own experiences."

"It's really good."

"Thank you." Sitting back, Herobrine sets his book on the top of the stack, and stands. "I'm going to go check on the mobs. Would you like to come with me?"

"And get out of this house? Heck yeah." You spring to your feet, dropping the book on your seat, and Herobrine smirks at your enthusiasm.

"Come." He offers you a hand, and you take it, following as he leads you out of the cabin and onto the small, gravel path.

It's a short walk to the cave, built into a small hill, and you head down a one-by-four block sloping tunnel to a vast, underground cavern. It looked like it was built out of a natural cave system, but expanded in order to house the army.

Which, by the way, you'd never actually seen before. You knew about them, obviously, but you'd never gone into the barracks back at the base, only saw the guards posted around you. It was a lot bigger than you'd imagined, and had all types of mobs, from spiders to zombie pigmen. There were even some creepers, tucked away in a group at the back of the cave.

Never letting go of your hand, Herobrine strolls through the dark cavern, occasionally stopping to have a quick conversation with reverse with some of the Endermen. Some of the mobs gave you weird looks, but otherwise don't mess with you. They know better than to cross their king.

Once he makes it around the room, he returns to the tunnel, leaving you by the exit for a moment to check the contents of a few chests. Probably looking for food. You watch the army milling around, noting some mobs sticking near others of their race, but others mingling with those nothing like them.

Then you see an Enderman appear, set down a creeper, and vanish.

"Herobrine." You say immediately, catching his attention. Another Enderman appears, then another, both carrying creepers, before they disappear. Instantly, your husband is at your side, and he shouts something in reverse. The creepers begin to flash, but some of your Endermen grab them and vanish before they can cause any damage.

"Good eye." Herobrine pats your shoulder, then hurries off towards the center of the room. You watch as he calls out in backwards and his Endermen move towards him, garbled voices echoing in the cavern as they have a rushed conversation.

A muffled explosion rocks the earth.

Your husband appears at your side again, but instantly the room fills with Endermen, each with a creeper that's already halfway to exploding. Herobrine teleports away with you, outside, only to find the cabin in flames. A hiss sounds behind you, and your surroundings vanish again. This time, you're on top of a mountain.

"What's going on??" You gasp out, clinging to your husband's arm.

"This must be Null's plan." Endermen appear, surrounding the two of you, but Herobrine just teleports again. The Endermen reappear around you. "They're following me."

"How??"

"They have to be tracking me somehow." Letting go of you, he draws a diamond sword, which glimmers purple in the light. "Don't move." He steps forward, attacking one of the Endermen, and you glance behind you warily. Fortunately, they don't seem to care about you.

Herobrine's already taken out half the Endermen by the time you turn around, moving too quickly for them to land a hit on them. Confident that there's no immediate threat to you, you check out your surroundings. A giant spruce forest, the first time you've seen one. The sun's setting, you note. Will other mobs be spawning soon?

A hand clamps over your mouth, and you can only let out a muffled shriek before the forest around you is replaced by blackness.
