Chapter 29

Alex' P. O. V.

Malfoy casted a spell, throwing the orcs backwards.

Lily swooped down and pulled me up onto the broomstick. I wrapped my arms around her waist. It wasn't a squeeze as my arms were weak from the whips. I could pass out anytime now.

"Prepare for war, and this time you will die!" I heard Alaya scream.

"Alex! Why are you so stupid?! Did you know how worried we were?" Lily said.

"You don't know anything, Lily. And even if you did, what I did was for the best."

"You were dying out there!"

"If it's the price I have to pay for Alaya to stop the war, it's a price I'm willing to pay! Even if it brings death..."

"What about Legolas, your family, your friends?"

"If it brings them a world without war, it'll be worth it."

"Do you think she'll stop at all? No! It's not like in the books, people talk through stuff, die for the ones they live and the enemy will call off the war. It's reality, dead or alive, once the enemy starts war, there will be no stopping them."

I held on tighter as I felt myself slip away. My eyes droop down.

Stay awake, Alex. I told myself. I opened my eyes and let out a soft gasp.

"Alex? Are you ok?"

"I'm fine, Lily."

"You're not. You're shaking, and you keep slipping away. I mean, you were whipped by a thick rope!"

"I'm fine. I just need rest."

"If you say so, but try to keep your eyes open, we have an hour until we reach campus."

"Uh... ok."

My back was throbbing and my heart pounded against my chest like wildfire. I hissed every time when I felt a sting shooting up my back.

I could see that we were getting closer and closer to Hogwarts. I wanted to close my eyes so badly. I saw black spots over lapping the bright figure of Hogwarts. I felt my eyes drooping down. I bit my lip, opening my eyes again.

So tired...

I rested my head on Lilly's back.

"Come on, Alex! Stay with me! We're almost there!"

"So... tired..."

"Wake up! We're almost there! Open your eyes!"

"O-ok..."

I forced my eyes open. I probably look like a drunk fellow in Bree. I miss the ale there.

Almost there... just a few minutes more. I can take this... I told myself. My head was spinning.

Wait...What? How is this happening? An elf doesn't pass out that easily unless the weapon used to is... poisoned.

I should have known... That's why

I bit my lip. The agonizing pain kept me awake for a moment but the poison is too strong. My hands were numb, I felt cold and hot at the same time (shivering and sweating), my feet were cold, my eyes were heavy.

It felt like I was floating on air, without a broomstick to support me.

"We're here..." Lily's voice echoed in my ears.

My legs touched the ground, I felt like falling, my legs were shaky. I couldn't move. I fell to the ground. The poison's traveling too fast in my blood stream.

"Alex..." a male's voice echoed.

Legolas. I felt the whole world spinning. I felt myself lifted up by a pair of strong arms.

"Stay with me..." Legolas said.

I couldn't take it anymore, I closed my eyes and let sleep take over me.
