"Mai. Time to wake up." Kakashi called to the small bundle of blankets on the girls bed.

Said bundle twitched a bit before a head popped out of the blankets.

Mai faced Kakashi with her clear eyes and drizzly hair. With a slight dazed look, she got up and began getting ready for school.

Kakashi, seeing the girl getting ready, called out to her "Ah, you don't have classes today. I just thought you wouldn't want to sleep all day."

Mai stopped and faced towards Kakashi again. She 'stared' at him for a while before simply nodding and getting ready for the day.

Kakashi sighed and left the girl to get ready as he went to prepare breakfast.

Despite knowing that the small girl couldn't see, he couldn't help but feel as if she was staring into his soul when she looked towards him like that.

Shaking his head, he sighed as he prepared the food. Half way through 'cooking' he heard a soft pitter patter heading towards him. Turning his head, he saw the small silver haired child heading towards him while clutching onto her.

Though the closer she got, it seemed the more her eyebrow would scrunch together.

"Eh...? What's wrong?" Kakashi lazily asked her.

She only stood there, face still scrunched up before simply saying "Burnt...."

Kakashi looked at her confused. 'Burnt? Did she hurt herself?'

He was about to check her for injuries when suddenly there was a woof noise and he felt warm. Quickly turning back towards the food, he sweat dropped as he saw it went up in flames. He quickly put the fire out before turning to the child in the room.

"How about we go out for breakfast....?" He chuckled hesitantly as he sweat dropped.

Mai just 'stared' at him boringly before nodding her head with a quiet 'mhm'.

The two quickly put on their shoes and headed out. As soon as they got outside, Kakashi pulled out his small little book and began walking while reading. Mai followed closely behind him by 'listening' to his footsteps exactly. After a couple of minutes, the two reached a small little restaurant.

Mai wasn't a big breakfast eater so she just got a piece of toast with an egg on it with a glass of milk while Kakashi ordered nothing.

When the waitress brought the food over, she couldn't help but to coo at Mai's cuteness as she sat the plate and cup in front of the girl. The waitress even went the extra mile in cutting up the food for her when she noticed Mai's clear eyes, showing that she was blind. Mai said nothing to nodded to the woman gratefully before tapping on the table a couple of times to see where everything was.

While the image of the placement of things was still fresh in her mind, Mai grabbed onto her fork and began eating, occasionally drinking from the glass of milk.

Mai ate about 3/4ths of the toast before she became full and no longer wanted to eat.

"You finished?" Kakashi asked when he noticed she wasn't eating anymore.

"Mhm." Mai nodded. Kakashi left the money on the table before the two go up and headed out of the restaurant. As soon as the two stepped outside though, they were overwhelmed by the large crowd of people. Mai couldn't see them but she could tell there were a lot of people walking around from the vibrations coming through the ground.

Kakashi sighed as he pulled his fingers through his hair. "I forgot this was today.." He sighed out.

Mai tilted her head, confused at his words. Kakashi seeing her face explained.

"Today there's a festival. Happens every year. Celebrates our loved ones that have passed away." He said. "People celebrate by visiting their graves and eating delicious foods. The festival goes on for about 3 days. They say that this is the only time when your deceased loved ones can rise to spend time with you."

(A/N: So basically Dia de los muertos. You can think of it as that with the sugar skulls and all)

As Kakashi spoke, Mai became more and more interested in this festival. She reached over onto Kakashi's leg and grabbed onto his pants leg, slightly tugging on it.

"Celebrate?" She asked as she 'looked' up at him. Despite her clear eyes, he could see the excitement and curiosity in her eyes.

Kakashi looked at her before looking back his book in hand. "Do you want to celebrate as well?"

Mai's eyes widened a bit before her grip on Kakashi's leg tightened a bit as she quickly nodded her head, showing her excitement.

Kakashi smiled slightly at her enthusiasm before leading her on through the crowd of people. "Well. Let's go then."

Kakashi began walking but stopped when he felt Mai grip on his pants tightened. It was at the moment that he realized just how many people were walking around ant the fact that Mai was blind. It must be hard for her to know where to go with so many people around messing up her senses.

Kakashi sighed for like the millionth time of the day before reaching down and grabbing Mai's hand.

"Hold my hand so we don't get separated. We'll head over and get some sugar skulls and food to celebrate." Kakashi explained.

The two walked for a bit until they reached the center of the village where everything was bustling the most. People had stalls set up everywhere selling things that cater towards the festival.

Mai wished she could see everything. She really did but she didn't know if she should use her eyes. She didn't want to over exert herself again  like last time. Maybe she could use them for just a little while...

Coming to an conclusion, she brought Kuro up closer to her face before putting her finger to her forehead. "Let me borrow your eyes..." She whispered.

"Are you sure....?" A raspy low voice sounded in her head.

She nodded her head and slowly color came to her eyes as well as her ability to see.

Kakashi saw the whole transition and was still shocked on how it was she was able to go from not seeing to seeing. 'Just what is that bear....?' He knew he'd have to keep an eye on her.

With her being able to see now, she eagerly looked around in excitement. Everything was colorful and everyone was all dressed up.

Kakashi led the girl to the stall that was selling the traditional food that you would offer to your deceased loved ones.

"Pick what you want out." Kakashi said while not even looking away from his book.

Mai looked at all the tasty treats and thought of her parents while choosing.

'What would mama and papa want?'

In the end she chose a couple of different types of breads and a sugar skull. Once she pointed out what she wanted, Kakashi paid for it and they started heading back towards their apartment.

As they were walking, a young girl working at a clothing stall saw Mai walking with a small smile and instantly froze. In less then 2 seconds she was already dragging the small girl by her hand over to her stall.

Hi hi! Ive been working hard on writing this for the past two days. Ive been doing it to help past time in my classes during school. Kills two birds with one stone. I wrote this one and ive got one more chapter that ive written. I'll probably post the next chapter either next week or once this one gets at least 25-30 votes. But sorry for always going MIA I'm such a busy person and get sidetracked easily. I've been working on another story as well. It hasn't been published yet and its a zombie story. Its a lot easier for me to work on that as I don't have to watch any show(considering its not a fan fic) to make sure I'm following the plot correctly. But yea, that's that!
