Chapter 28

Peter's P.O.V

I wake up the next morning to someone banging on my door and yelling "Wake up!"

I carefully open my eyes and sit up. The sun is shining bright outside and I can hear the birds twitter (Not the app...) from outside. I quickly change into some other clothes and walk out of my room. But I stop when I see all the other kids, who also have their room in this hallway, stand outside their doors and Mr. Reed is standing at where the hallways starts.

"Ah! Peter! Good to see you finally came out." He walks over to me and I see that he has the metal ruler with him. "But not fast enough. You were suppose to be outside your door the moment you woke up. But I guess you had to 'Get ready'. Didn't you?" Mr. Reed scolds me.

"N-no sir... I didn't kno-" But of course, he cuts me off with a slap and I stay quiet. I take out the underside of my hands hand he hits them with the ruler hard. After a couple of hits, he puts the object down and walks up to Eddie's door. It is now that I notice that he's not here.

"Eddie! Get out! Now!" Mr. Reed yells. I gotta do something.

"Umm... sir. He didn't...- He didn't feel very well yesterday. He was...umm... really sick. So I don't think he can come out today..." I say nervously. Mr. Reed looks at me for a second, then he makes his way back up the hallway.

"Well, it's his loss. Anyways..." Mr. Reed is now facing all the kids in the hallway. "As you all know, today we'll get special guest that will hopefully adopt any of you. They are looking for a teenage boys so it's your job to clean up the waiting room, the dining hall, the living room and the lobby." He finishes. "The couple will come around 11AM. Now get to work!" Then he leaves.

All the kids walk into their room, probably to get changed and I carefully knock on Eddie's door. No answer.

"I'm Sorry Eddie..." I mumble.

I carefully open the door and see that the room is empty. I close the door behind me and walk in. The window is open... Did he run away?!

Then all of a sudden, my spidey sense goes haywire and a monster-like creature comes through the window. It kind of looks like Venom... but with a whole body... Oh god... Did that thing eat Eddie up?!

"What the hell?!" I whisper-yell and the creature becomes smaller until Eddie is standing in front of me. "I...- What...?!" I stutter out.

"Peter... Please don't freak out... everythings fine, I'm fine... And so is Venom." Eddie says and I take a deep breath.

"Okay. So. That was... uhh... you... and Venom...?"

"Yeah... Or, well..." Now Venom has appeared from Eddie's shoulder. "We are Venom." They say at the same time. I nod and take another deep breath.

"Anyways... Where were you?"

"O-oh... umm... well... You know how Spider-Man looks out for everyone?" I nod. "Well, we thought we could do the same... you know... so he doesn't have to do it all alone..." A small smile appears on my face.

"That's... really nice of you Eddie. I think Spider-Man would be very thankful to you." He smiles and then I remember what Mr. Reed said. "Oh yeah... umm... Mr. Reed said that a couple is coming today to adopt and he was wondering where you were. Before he entered your room I said that you were sick. I'm really sorry for saying that, since now you can't really go down there..."

(I know that Venom isn't completely a "Good guy" in the comics or whatever... But shush... iz ma story :))

"It's okay Pete. I don't mind. I had planned on staying in bed the whole day anyways. I couldn't care less about being adopted." I look at him a little confused but he just shrugs, so I don't push it.
