Kelsey POV

                                     Seven Months Ago

“Latin will be the death of me.” Jessa complained. I threw my arm over her shoulder and reassuringly replied, “Hey, you’ll be fine. We just have to take this stupid test and then we have off until the New Year.”

Jessa nodded and we walked into our Latin classroom, finding our usual seats in the corner of the room. Jessa stared longingly out the window, wishing to be anywhere but here.

I leaned my body forward and whispered, “Good luck” right before the tests were handed out.

I finished in twenty minutes, the translations coming naturally to me and now it was my turn to stare outside and at the clock. Davis is picking me up after school to celebrate our six month anniversary.

Time was moving slower than it ever had before; the combination of Christmas break and Davis outside seemed to keep the clock at a standstill. I tried to get my mind to think of something else, but my thoughts kept floating back to Davis—Davis, who I am so, completely in love with.

I was never the boyfriend type, but somehow, everything changed when I met the arrogant college freshman. He opened up my heart on our first date and I haven’t been able to close it since.

Thinking about Davis makes my heart melt; his blonde hair always falls right above his green eyes, and I have never felt safer than when I am in his arms. He is truly my everything.

DING! DING! DING!

“Oh thank Jesus.” I said under my breath as everyone eagerly hopped out of their seats and stampeded toward the door. Jessa and I followed the crowd and soon made it outside.

“I feel so much lighter now! Ugh, thank GOD we have this time off. If I have to sit through one more class with the ignorant assholes of New York City I might jump off a building.” Jessa exclaimed and then added, “Totally failed that test by the way.”

I laughed and shook my head at her. “Oh please, you getting minus one because you forgot the sentence was a result clause is not failing. And I know what you mean; that school is starting to get more and more suffocating as the days go by.”

“Just think, six more months and we are out of that shithole.” Jessa squealed.

“Six more months and we’re in college!” I added excitedly.

“What are we going to do? We have never been away from each other for more than a weekend. How are we supposed to deal with going to separate colleges? On opposite coasts?” Jessa sighed.

I didn’t reply to her statement because it filled me with sadness. Jessa would be heading to California to study psychology while I stayed in New York. I couldn’t bear to even think about the two of us splitting up.

“Let’s not think about that now. We still have the rest of the year and the whole summer to be together!” I encouraged.

“True. Alright, I’m going to go home and contemplate my life as a result of that Latin test. Have fun with Davis.” Jessa winked.

I laughed and we parted ways. I walked to where I saw his car parked across the street and eagerly hopped in the passenger seat.

“Hey baby.” Davis reached over and gave me a full kiss on the mouth.

I smiled back in greeting and inquired, “So where is this mystery date going to be tonight? I am so excited. But I also need to know how to dress. So a little hint would be helpful.”
