As I slowly stepped out of the cave, I looked around carefully for any rogues.
Like myself.
Thankfully, the coast was clear.
My life wasn't always like this. I wasn't always a rogue hiding away behind a waterfall. I had a pack, I had a family and I had friends. I was the Alpha's secret daughter of the Moonlight pack. Only a few knew that I was the eldest child.
My brother was two years younger than me but with his muscles and tall height, everyone believed that he was older. My father didn't want a girl to be Alpha.
So my parents and I agreed to persuade everyone to think that Kiran, my brother, was the eldest. It worked out pretty well since he was taller once he hit twelve.
Now I was nineteen and running for my life. I was trying to stay alive. My pack was burned down by the enemy that I didn't know about. Sure I have a few suspicions because I heard my father arguing a lot.
It was so sudden and traumatic. There were fire screams and growls everywhere. Kiran and I got separated from our parents when they stayed to fight for their pack during the fire. We were loosing, I remember the look of defeat on Kiran's face when he told me to run. When I crossed the border I felt their links break one by one. Kiran said he would be just behind me, he said he would come for me. I waited for hours and he never came.
Shaking off the thoughts, I tried not to think about it so much. I had to remain strong although it haunted my dreams. I dove into the waterfall and swam around for a while, drinking in the water and giving myself the bath that I never had for the past two days.
Food.
My plan was simple really, every day I would escape near another pack until I reached the city. I had two more packs to go, the royal pack and the golden pack. Both were the two powerful packs ever known and I was terrified of accidentally slipping into their border.
After that, if I don't die, I can maybe find a job to feed myself and maybe if I'm lucky to find somewhere to live. I was very educated since I had time to waste growing up and I knew how to fight. I was maybe thinking in a cafe or something since I used to be in the kitchen baking a lot.
I shook off the thought of how hungry I am as I got out of the water.
"Are you ready snow?" I asked my wolf, Snow. She was a mixture of brown, white, and black fur with purple eyes. Mostly brown and white though. "Yes, let me take over," she replies and I do. I picture her fur and yes, her long tail and soon the little pinch of us shifting was over.
"Don't go into the borders!" I warn her and she nods her head. I listen to the branches breaking and leaves crushing beneath her paws as she ran, dodging logs and trying to stay hidden between the trees as she ran, the wind filters through her fluffy fur.
Suddenly she stopped.
Why?
"What are you doing!?" I screamed at her. I tried to take back control but she kept walking further and further into the new territory. "Snow! Run back!" I scream at her, she won't let me take control. "Where are you going? Go back! Now!" I instruct her but she just huffed and continued walking. The thought of all the trained warriors, ready to kill any rogue at sight.
"Snow!" I screamed at her as the pain shot through my body. She howled out in pain as the iron and silver snapped through her leg.
We were caught in a trap.
