"Let me tell you, beautiful."

He says and I wait like an idiot. Like a kid waiting for a story to be told. He puts his elbow on the table and places his chin in the palm of his hand.

"Are you single?"

"C-can you not do that... please," I say and peer down at my rings.

"What?" He asks and curiosity fills his voice.

"You are flirting."

"What? I'm not, I promise," he says and sits up straight. His face looks somewhat funny now that I am looking at him, protesting what I said. His eyebrows lift slightly.

"You asked me if I was single, for me it is flirting."

"I asked you if you were single, not if you wanted to date me or stuff like that," he says without amusement in his voice. And yes, he is right. I am going crazy for real, I guess.

Men are still men to me, guys like him seem to be so hungry, although he is kind of a good man now that I am having a conversation with him but so many guys have tried to flirt with me, every time and every day. Now, every single guy, except Julian, are beasts to me, always trying to flirt and have women in their grip.

Why not Julian? I ask myself mentally. Well maybe because he was so distant and mean the first time I spoke to him. Unlike all the other men I have encountered, he did not jump on me, instead, he stayed away and that was enough to draw me to him.

I nod at him and look around me, waiting impatiently for him to tell me what this event is for, but I am not gaining the courage to tell him to speak.

"You look funny," he says and how can I argue with that? I am sure I do too.

"But I'll tell you. You deserve it," he says and my eyes fall on him again. Come on, tell me already.

My fingers tug under the fabric of my dress, my body is now turned towards him, looking only at him. How can someone take so long to say something? Really, he is playing with me.

"Alright. Listen, the Goldies night is an event where singles, not singles, come. It's essentially for singles though," he laughs a bit.

"Well, women are asked to wear only gold because it's a way to attract men. I'll call it a magnet." My eyes widen. I feel like a prey already.

"Calm down, no one will kidnap you, unless that person is crazy. But whatever, at a certain moment during the night, men will have the right to invite the women they are interested in to dance there," he points out in the middle and I understand that the huge void in the middle is for people to dance! A ball?

"That's why I asked you if you already have your golden boy," he says, looking towards the front for a moment, giving me the full view of his jaw. Not as beautiful as Julian's jaw.

"No," I reply.

My eyes roam around me and the number of people inside now is insane. So many. All the tables are almost full, thank you, Jesus, no one remarked the four empty chairs around my table. Maybe this guy, Zeke, is hiding it all with his wide frame.

The waiters are now serving tables, they are all wearing suits with golden bowtie, so chic.

The atmosphere is great, even if I am feeling like an outsider in the midst of all these couples and friends who are enjoying their time. The singer is still singing, sensual and great. The contacts of glasses and spoons echoes in my ears, showing that people are already eating.

Suddenly my eyes fall on the most handsome and stunning thing I have ever seen. There, in front of me, a few tables away, serving plates on a table full of women, is Julian in all his beauty.
