ANNE SHIRLEY Cuthbert sat on her bed in her room at queens, while her roommate Diana read a book.

Anne's head flew up as she heard a tap noise near the window.

"Diana did you hear that?" Anne said as she looked at Diana. Diana was looking towards the window and nodded her head yes, without looking at Anne.

The sound happened again, and Anne walked over to the window. She rolled her eyes and opened the window.

She looked down and saw Gilbert, waving up to her.

"What are you doing here? Are you crazy?" Anne said, her voice in a crazy and hushed whisper. She looked at him like he was insane for standing beneath her window late at night.

"To see you of course! Now come outside please." Gilbert said as he fiddled with his hands.

"I can't, curfew was about an hour ago. You're not even supposed to be here! I don't even have a way of getting down there" Anne said, resting her arms on the windowsill.

"Just jump out the window." Gilbert said, shrugging his shoulders. Anne gasped, crossing her arms over her chest.

"I can't do that! That's very unladylike, plus I could hurt myself. I could get caught too! Marilla would have my head." Anne said as she looked out towards the ground.

"It's not very high up, I'll catch you! Please, Anne." Gilbert begged.

Anne looked at Diana, and Diana nodded her head.

"I won't tell anybody, I promise. If you hurt yourself, we'll come up with an excuse." Diana said, and Anne looked back at Gilbert. Diana ushered Anne towards the window.

"Why are you so eager for me to jump out a window? Here goes nothing." She mumbled before swinging one leg out the window. As she swung the other one around, she held onto the window sill for support.

"You can let go now anne." Gilbert was beneath her, ready to catch her. He held his arms out, trying to navigate the way she was going to fall.

Anne took a deep breath, squeezed her eyes shut and dropped down. She felt the air rush beneath her as she made her way to the ground. She fell into Gilbert's arms, and he held her.

Her arm was wrapped around his shoulder. She laughed. He smiled down at her, hair getting in his eyes.

"I just jumped out a window Gilbert! That was thrilling." Anne said, and hopped out of Gilbert's arms. Gilbert set her down slowly, his gaze never leaving her eyes.

"Sorry, I know we were to meet tomorrow, but i couldn't wait." Gilbert said.

"It's okay, but you wouldn't of been allowed here tomorrow anyway. Today and tomorrow isn't the day suitors are allowed here." Anne bit her lip as Gilbert's hand slid into hers.

They walked around heading towards the fountain. It was a deeper fountain than usual. The structure was big, and the water rushing was calming to hear. Anne often read right next to the fountain.

"Pretty." Anne mumbled as she looked at the water. Gilbert looked at her and smiled. He cupped his hands and put them in the water.

Before Anne could think, he pushed his hands forward, splashing Anne.

She gasped and started laughing. Her dress turned dark in some spots due to the water.

"Gilbert!" She complained and then slyly smirked. She hopped into the fountain and kicked water in his direction.

He smiled as the water splashed into his face. He wiped his face with his hands before splashing Anne again.

Her dress was getting wet but she didn't care. Being with Gilbert in this moment gave her a thrill she didn't want to let go of yet.

They laughed, and Gilbert jumped into the fountain, his head going underwater. He gasped for air when he rose up, his curls sticking to his forehead.

"This is unladylike, but so adventurous at the same time. I don't even know why I'm thinking about being proper in a time like this!" Anne said, laughing. Queens had partly taught her what was lady like or not. This was definitely in the long list of things that were not ladylike.

They both just splashed around in the water until they were tired. Anne yawned, stretching her arms out.

Gilbert noticed and stepped out of the fountain. He reached for Anne's hand, and helped her out of the fountain.  They were both soaking wet.

"Goodnight Anne Shirley Cuthbert." Gilbert said, and leaned down to kiss her. It was short but sweet.

"Goodnight Gilbert." Anne said as they pulled away. Their intertwined hands lingering for a moment, before letting go.

Anne watched as Gilbert walked away. A trail of water following him. She smiled, and headed inside queens.

She sneaked up the steps, leaving a trail of water behind. She successfully made it to her room without anybody noticing. She cringed at the wet floor, something nobody would explain in the morning. She opened the door and stepped inside the room.

Diana sat on her bed, laughing when she saw Anne's appearance.

"You certainly have a knack for getting yourself into trouble."
