Chapter 27 Hero

Hikaru tensed he thought he could hear whispering to his right, he nervously brought a hand up to his face. He wasn't wearing any goggles and from experience he knew it was dangerous to just open his eyes.

"I told you to ssh, you woke him up!" a small voice grumbled from just to the omega's left side.

"Oh can it! Idiot. And don't tell me what to do. You're the dumb ass that let the cat go." Another small child's voice a little louder snapped back in reply.

"Don't argue guys, you're scaring Goat." came a softer less harsh tone belonging to a third child.

Hikaru knew he had to be dreaming, maybe he really was dead, although heaven wouldn't normally smell like a mix of apples, oranges and cinnamon an overly sweet but not at all bothersome scent filled his lungs. Pups? There were pups near by, within reach and did he hear a meow. Did one say Goat? Was there an actual goat in this room? Where was this room? It didn't feel like the normally cold clinically sterile lonely hospital room.

"Hey, Mister Nightmare. Sorry we woke you up. Daddy said you were really tired but Goat got out and he ran into your room and-" The small voice leaned close the other two children were a little further away arguing.

Nightmare flinched as a small hand grazed his arm followed by tiny needle like talons scampering across his shoulder perching in the middle of his chest before deciding to nestle down and purr?

"Don't shove me idiot!" One of the louder pups neared.

"You don't shove me! Besides I am the one that found out what room he was in!"

The pup now climbing on the bed causing a slight dip had the hero squeezing his eyes shut, he realized he had bandages. Despite what people thought he hated the dark, but feared what it would be like if he just opened his eyes. When his quirk first developed in the orphanage he was put in a collar that canceled his villain like quirk, it was better than being gagged or blindfolded. Still waking in dark rooms alone, or with a tight blindfold over his eyes, it reminded him of growing up in that hell of an orphanage. Shoved into a dark closet, left for days for some slight or a so called breaking of an obscure rule.

"They-uh they just want your ca-card." The young boy stuttered and the blinded hero hated the scent that followed. The boy was tense the gray haired hero gave a small smile hoping he was facing the boy.

"Is this your cat?" Nightmare hated how his own voice cracked, but the young boy patted his shoulder. The small scent was heavier, Hikaru suppressed a giggle, the child was offering comfort and a calming scent. That was endearing and adorable.

"It's okay, you'll be okay." The anxious scent dissipated and nightmare hesitantly sat up he grunted his right leg, left arm and shoulder ached, suddenly the bed was dipping again as another little body joined the first pup on the bed..

"Here." a small but stern voice huffed, suddenly a cool feeling fell over the injured leg and then his shoulder.

"I can only heal small stuff." A disappointed pup grumbled also climbing up on the bed after his friends.

"Mama said you should be able to take your wrapping off, it's been two weeks. " the boy that had numbed Nightmare's pain sounded so reassuring.

Before the hero could object or find his barrings, the mixed scents were calming but also nerve racking, the bindings were removed from his eyes.
