- The author tries to make everyone nonchalant about agreeing to what the OC says when they're practically thirsty for that 'yes'.
Just write it how you mean it, people.
"Can I please go fight every Akatsuki member and save Naruto?"
"Your jugs are big so I don't give a fuck."
- The OC must be all-knowing and prove it every 5 seconds or the book won't be good.
"Naruto, what do you want for dinner?"
"He wants ramen. I know this because I have special knowledge. There is no other way to prove or assume this other than my knowing."
- The OC always has to have the last hit, even though we all know a canon character did it.
Canon: Naruto gets chucked into pain with a rasengan.
Fanon: Naruto gets chucked into pain with a rasengan...
And then Miranda socks him in the face
- The OC always has to tell off the characters we all hate.
Please donate all of that shade to Shikamaru and the Nara Clan as a whole.
- The OC always has a joke to say even when some serious shit is going on.
"Jiraiya Sensei died today."
"It's OK, Naruto. I'm sure he's being greeted in heaven with Tsunade's jugs."
Because making a boob joke after a Sannin dies and your best friend is currently grieving is such a wonderful addition to the story.
And then Naruto actually laughs.

- The OC has a carbon copy of a canon character's Jutsu.
"'I call this attack, Raikirin!' she says, holding up a chidori-like attack while summoning a lightning snake from the sky"
It's time to stop!
- The OC can never wear your generic ninja clothes.
"I woke up, putting on a mesh shirt, pink crop top, khakis, boots, a hello kitty belt, and finished it off by tying my hair into twin pigtails."
I just roll out if bed and I'm clothed for the day.

- The OC basically copies the actions of canon characters at some point because the Author is out of ideas to keep the OC relevant.
Because after taking out Pein and using the wood style you should have never had to rebuild Konoha, you need to be the one to become Hokage while Tsunade goes to get beer and send Naruto to Turtle Island.
- The OC becomes hokage, but only because the previous one is removed in some boring and cliche fashion.
And I become a teacher when my substitute goes across the hallway.
