Cara's P.O.V.

This was excruciating. Ever since Hannah left to visit Amanda, I've been trying to see if I could change my story. I didn't want to but everything was about sales in the book industry. Publishing companies wanted to make money. Stories that normally involve herteronormative relationships were the ones that sell. Unfortunately, my story didn't have that as the main relationship type.  It was unlike any other story I had written before. This story felt more like my current growth as a person and as a writer.

The first book that I published after my senior year of high school dealt with the main character finding her own individuality after her twin sister graduates early. My second book was set in college and all the characters we're trying to figure there own path in life while challenging the expectations put on them by their parents. Now my current book was about friendships and trying to make it in Hollywood. The main relationship was base on Hannah and me.

I had to admit that I went through a lot of changes after Hannah moved in. I became more sociable and I've experienced a lot of things that I probably never would have imagined. I've met some interesting people and gained some friends along the way. Who knew this was going to happen? I for one did not. My only true friend before this was Jane, but I didn't really think of her as a friend. I always thought that she was just my agent and that's why she was always there for me. Now, I know better. Jane was more than a friend and agent. She was my older sister.

In some ways, this current book was like a little diary. I incorporated all the little events that happened between Hannah and me and how we suddenly became closer. The whole relationship aspect threw me in a loop. It was confusing and eye-opening.  I didn't think I could get as close to another person as I could with her.  All my fears and distrust melted when I got to know her.

"Cara, are you okay?"

Jane's voice broke me out of my thoughts. I got up from my seat on the island and I walked over to open the door. To my surprise, I saw Jane and Zara in front of me.

"I was worried because you weren't answering any of my text," Jane stated.

"I'm better than before. I'm sorry Hannah turned my phone off because I didn't want to deal with a call from my family, I said as I stared at the two. Now, that I think about it, I don't think Hannah hid it. She must have forgotten about it after the whole massager incident. "Come on in." I stepped aside for the two.

"I wanted to check up on you and see how you were doing before I left," Zara stated.

"Thanks, I'm doing okay. Having Hannah around really helped," I said as I shut the door.

"That's great," Zara said as she slipped out of her Chelsea boots.

"We have some good news," Jane said.

"I can't wait to hear it." I gestured them to the kitchen. "Can I get you guys a drink."

"No, thank you," Zara said as she took a seat at the dining room table.

"I'm good," Jane added. She took a seat beside Zara. "So Zara knows someone that can help out with our publishing dilemma."

"That's great," I said. "Who?" I grabbed my cup of tea from the island as I walked toward the dining room table.

"She's a really great editor who also happens to be the youngest daughter of  Edward Klein," Zara explained.

"How do you know her?"  I took a seat across from Zara.

"She's an accomplished equestrian and we practiced at the same club," Zara answered.

"Rich people," Jane muttered.
