My Double Life

Chapter 4

Kendrick's POV

"Do you have the hots for that girl or what?" I ask Seth as we drive away from Skylar's home

"No you pig, I was just being nice and she is a nice girl." Seth rolls his eyes

So annoying

"What do you have against her? Seth is right you know, she's nice and hella funny." Ray adds

For some unknown reason, the girl just irritates me

"I don't have anything against her, she just can't stop running her mouth." I say

The rest of the ride home was quiet until Seth started his horrible singing. I swear I want to throw him out the window

"Yo, have you gotten any leads as to who mystery girl is?" Ray asks not taking his eyes of the road

"No, not yet. I've asked around but nobody knows who she is and apparently nobody has ever seen her face." I answer getting frustrated

All my life of fighting I have kept a perfect score and all the sudden it's taken away by some girl. I get so angry just thinking about it. Ever since the fight the guys and I have been trying to get any information on this mystery girl and with no luck.

"She has to be working for someone, what if we ask Ben if one of his 'friends' have a girl working for them?." Seth suggests

That's not a bad idea. Ben is a gang leader and our friend if I can put it that way. I'm sure he'll tell us plus he owes me.

"How sure are we that he'll talk?" Ray asks

"Just leave it up to me. I'll go to him as soon as I change out of these clothes." I say and they nod

Just then we pull up at our house. The boys and I own a double story house that Seth's parents bought for us as a way of getting rid of us. I don't have parents or any family I know of. I left the orphanage just a year before I met Ray and Seth. I've been on and off the streets and that's how I started street fighting. Seth and Ray are fighters too that's how we became friends and we have been together since.

I get into the house and head up to my room to take a shower. After I'm done, I grab my own car keys and make my way to the man that took me of the streets, Ben.

"I'll be back soon." I tell the guys

"We'll be at the diner." Ray says

I exit the house and get on the road. Once I come to the place, I park my car in a secure area and go in

"I'm here to see Ben." I tell Zack, one the guards

After searching me for any weapons, I'm allowed in side. I walk into the familiar building and up to Ben's office. I knock lightly on the door and let myself in

"Ah Kendrick, what a surprise. Come on in." Ben says from his throne like seat

I walk inside and take a seat in front of him

"I'm guessing you are here because you want to know who that girl was?" He asks leaning back in his chair

"How'd you know?"

"Well if i was to get my ass beat by a girl, I too would want to know who she is." He says matter-of-factly
