A beautiful day in Konoha. Kakashi lean his hands on the railing, looking down at the view before him. He could see the roof of houses and the busy streets of the village. From a distance, he swear he could make out Guy and Hanare's physic. They were walking together. But then again, he wasn't so sure. By the rate his heart was beating, he could be hallucinating.
"Why..." the girl beside him spoke for the first time in 30 minutes they've been together "...did you defend me?"
Kakashi kept his eyes ahead "Out of everyone...I expected you to understand the most."
Kasuno kept her eyes at him, admiring his perfect side profile. He still look just like how she remembers him.
"You're right."
"Hm."
"Is it weird that I'm trying to make conversations?" Kasuno bit her lips "After the last time..."
"No." Kakashi took a deep breath "I think it's weirder that I've got nothing to say..."
Silence enveloped the two again for awhile until he heard her trying to stop her chuckle.
He finally got the courage to look at her.
"Why are you laughing?" He asked, bewitched by her beauty. Now he don't know if he could ever look away.
"It's just...." She stopped laughing and met his eyes "...What you did back there; with the two shinobi. It feels like deja vu."
"You're right." Kakashi couldn't help but to chuckle as well "When you messed with Tauro's mind and got the ANBU training ground burnt cause they were bad mouthing me. You were way worser than me Kasuno-chan~"
"I was one aggressive shinobi back then, huh?"
"No. It's just things love makes us do."
Kasuno looked at him. She stared at him and he stared back, perhaps trying to say something words can't convey.
Because sometimes, even after time had passed, the way you look at someone won't ever be the same way friends look at each other.
Kasuno was the first one to look away. Kakashi cleared his throat.
"How have you been? You're always with Takeru but he never talks about you."
Kakashi wanted to ask. He wanted to ask her if she still thinks about him the way he thinks about her...but it'll be too far fetch. He didn't want her to feel uncomfortable.
"I'm always out on missions. It seems like the Hokage got no one else but me. I can't help it. I'm very talented after all." He shrug a little arrogantly.
Kasuno playfully slap his arm "Still full of yourself huh?"
"I'm kidding." Kakashi rub his nape "But yeah. My life has been revolving around missions. You?"
"Therapy. Medications." Kasuno looked down at her hands but tried to stay cheerful as she can, telling white lies.
"But I made new friends! Friends who looked after me and made me happy!"
She didn't. Almost everyone were avoiding her, thinking she got a curse. Thinking she's contagious. Or the people around her got tired of taking care of her except her family plus Sakura and the Hokage.
"I've seen so many things and have been enjoying my life. Did you know?! There was a hot spring near the Hokages mountain?!"
Yes. There was. Inoichi had told her that Ino went there with her friends. Truth to be told, Kasuno hasn't have the time to enjoy her life or see things. She's either confined in the hospital or under the eyes of her strict and worried mother.
