The blinding white light wouldn't leave. Cass kept her eyes screwed shut to avoid being blinded but the light never died. Eventually, she tentatively opened her eyes.

Was she visioning? She couldn't tell. Everywhere was white. Then, slowly things began to appear.

Cass found herself in the middle of a street. Not just any old street, the street their house was on. But it couldn't be. She couldn't really be there, the house was still standing and everything looked sorry of grey. But the thing that really told her she wasn't in reality anymore was her father standing on the font steps beckoning her inside.

Cass glanced over her shoulder and looked left and right down the street. She was alone. Where were the others? Dad was still beckoning her. With an apprehensive gulp, she followed him inside the house.

"I did it," she said at last. Dad had shown her in and gone straight to his office. He sat behind his desk and just stared at her without saying a word.

"I let it happen," Cass continued, "I saw what Vanya did, blowing up the moon, ending the world. And I let her do it. You could at least be proud, I did what you wanted."
