chapter 7

kalani's pov:

my alarm woke me up and i cursed a little under my breath before turning it off,i crawled out of bed and realized that aiden was still asleep on the floor so i stepped over him trying not to wake him up and head over to the bathroom to start my morning routine

i got out of the bathroom and decided to wake aiden up "yoo gimmi five more minutes" he whined "no you have to get up now or you'll miss the bus" i said pulling his arm "fineee" he got up and went to the bathroom

i sat at the vanity to do my makeup and fix my hair,i put my hair up in a classic ponytail like i always do and did my usual light makeup

i got up and searched through my suitcase and i settled on a gray t-shirt and a jeans shorts with a pair of sneakers,i walked out to the living room to wait on aiden,he came out after 5 minutes "you ready?" he asked grabbing some stuff out of the couch "yea let's go" i said getting up and heading out

i met up with ally in the lobby "heyy bestie wassuppp" she said hugging me tightly "nothing i'm fine,how're you and jay" i peered at her "okay so don't judge but we kinda did the thing and i think that we're a serious couple now" my jaw dropped "omgggg allyyy" i laughed as i pushed her a little

we got in the bus and as always i sat beside ally and put my earphones in,today we were going to a research center to learn about the decline in some of the different species of animals,i just sat there listening to x as his voice blared through my earphones i watched the buildings pass and before i knew it i fell asleep on the window

ally had woken me up and i sat up in my seat so i could stretch,i took up my stuff and got off the bus while holding ally's hand

"okay so today we're switching stuff up since we don't have enough time to do every animal we'll have a vote as to which animal each person would like to see and you'll be broken up into groups according to the animal you chose" ms.Robinson said handing out pieces of paper

"which animal you wanna do" i asked ally showing her the paper "a manatee" she said and i agreed

the groups broke up and went to several areas in the research center,ally and i walked together. this was basically going to be like normal class back at school but instead we'd be seeing everything firsthand and get a real taste of what it's like to work at the different places that our subject majors would carry us

the presentation finished smoothly and we were on our way to meet the bus,ally had stopped to use the bathroom and she told me to continue. while walking i had my head down and i was scrolling through my phone when suddenly i knocked into something so hard that i fell back on the pavement "woahhh,sorry my bad" someone said reaching out to help me up "it's fine" i responded as he picked me up

"are you sure you're okay?"
"yea i'm sure" i picked my head up to get a good look at him

"i'm so clumsy i wasn't even looking where i was going and i bumped right into you i'm so sorry" he stated while i tried checking if my phone was still working and thank god it was

"no no you're fine,i wasn't really paying attention either so it's not all your fault" i said without any expression on my face
"my name's cameron but my friends call me cam,how bout you?", "i'm kalani" i reached out to shake his hand and he took it gently,i laughed a little at the fact that i literally just fell on my butt in public

"can i get your number?" cam asked giving me his phone and i saved my number "okay i'll text you" he said flashing me a smile before walking off

i looked over to see aiden was looking right at us "heyyy" i said waving at him with a big smile on my face,he didn't answer instead he just shook his head and walked off

"umm what was that all about" i heard ally ask from behind me "i don't know,he's not in the mood i guess" i said as the bus pulled up and we got in

the bus ride home i couldn't help but think about why aiden would mean mug me like that but i didn't drift deep in my thoughts as i fell asleep leaning on ally

we got back to the hotel and i said bye to ally before heading back to the room,aiden had the room pass and i haven't seen him since the incident happened. i tried the door and it was open so i assumed that aiden had already opened it and left it for when i was coming

i went inside and head straight for the bedroom so i could take a shower,i took my clothes off and stepped in the shower as i allowed the warm water to beat on my back i began to think about life after we graduate

i always tried hard not to think about it because it made me sad to consider the fact that maybe i won't become what i want and would have to settle for a low income job

i turned the shower off and got out,i went into the bedroom to put on an oversized t-shirt before wiping my makeup off. i decided to go check if aiden was still here so i put my panda slippers on and went into the living room

aiden sat in the couch watching tv "hey you okay,you seemed a little upset earlier" i said standing near him but he didn't answer "you can answer you know it's not a big deal" still no reply. i was starting to get frustrated so i stood in front of the tv

"yoo wtf,moveee" he said indicating to me that i should move to the left

"i'm not moving till you talk to me" i played around moving my legs a little "get tf outta my way" he said fixing himself in the couch "no,why're you acting like this?" i questioned

"why do you care i mean you were already all over cameron so what's the point"

i just looked at him "is that what all this about?,because i talked to someone?"

he got up and walked over to me "that shit was dumb asf bro i took you out to dinner lastnight and today you're out talking to other niggas" i pushed past him and ran into the bedroom closing the door behind me,i leaned on the door and sat on the floor as i wiped a tear that fell on my cheek

i heard the door slam so i assumed that aiden had left the room,i rolled my eyes and walked over to the area in which he slept last night, the blankets were still there because i didn't have time to move them this morning

i picked the blankets up off of the floor and wrapped them up when suddenly a bracelet fell on the floor,it must've been aiden's so i picked it up and put it in my jewelry box

i put up the extra blankets and got in bed covering myself up as i listened to music so it could help me sleep and before i knew it i as gone
