I woke up in the wagon the next morning. I had to recollect my memories of where I was, since I had previously fallen asleep by the fire with Kovit. I realized that the wagon was moving, so I sat up to see that Kovit was slouched against the wall of the wagon, asleep while Luka and Kai were in the front, driving and Leah and Ronan were in the other wagon, counting the number of red birds that they saw. I guess it gave them something to do. I opened the burlap bag that had some snacks in it and got out some bread bites that I dipped in jelly for breakfast. When I was done, I got out my brush and brushed my hair before offering some food to Luka and Kai. Kai took some but Luka had already eaten and wasn't hungry.

Kai kept looking back at me and Kovit to make sure nothing was happening. I rolled my eyes at him before leaning over the back of Luka's chair to ask him something.

"How long was Kovit up last night? He seems pretty out of it." I said. Luka smirked and then put the reins down to look at me.

"You worried about your kidnapper River?" He joked with me. I pushed him playfully before looking at him seriously. He looked at me with a small smile and a look of understanding.

"He didn't sleep that much. He kept looking at you and stroking your hair behind your ear while you slept. I sat and talked with him for a while but then I went to bed. I guess he stayed up for a while after that." Luka said. Kai listened and then looked over at me.

"I don't think that I have ever seen affection come from Kovit until he was watching you last night. He has always had a temper and never really kind. That's why it surprised me when he was so careful not to wake you up last night." Kai said as he ate the bread bites and jelly. I was surprised to hear all of this coming from these two. I looked over at Kovit and he looked like he was asleep, but then his eye flinched and I smiled. I sat over next to him and poked at his arm.

"I know you're awake. I know you heard all of that." I smiled. Kovit pretended to be asleep again, but then I kept poking at his arm and face and taunting him playfully until a smirk came to his face and he opened his eyes and grabbed my wrist. "Ha! I knew you were awake!" I laughed. He rolled his eyes and then looked where we were.

"We should almost be at the forest." Kovit said. I looked out the side of the wagon to see mountains and flowers of every color. It was beautiful. I could see the mountains that almost looked like they came straight out of a painting, that is, the paintings that I have seen from walking out of the chambers to meet with the king. I took in the scent of the fresh air and pollen that came from the view in front of me. My hair flowing every which way in the wind of the earth. I closed my eyes and imagined what it would be like to be completely free to use my powers and to be able to have the freedom that I desired all of my life. I went over to Luka and put my head on his shoulder.

"We're finally going to be free from him, sis." Luka said before he kissed my head. I missed him being around. We had a bond that was pretty much unbreakable even by distance. I smiled brightly and then looked over at Kai who was just leaning back with his feet up on the railing in front of him and his hands behind his head.
