//Hailey, I'm so sorry leaving like this. I kept my promise and did not tell you the day I was leaving but as you know it's the night of Christmas I don't want to say much in this letter because there are things I will like to tell you face to face. I am not saying much because I promise to the back. Please forgive ma and wait patiently for me. I'll be back to tell you the words I've wanted to say since the day you sat on my back in the barn and dared me to do ten press ups: here it goes - your parents said its going to make you sick so lie on my bed if you feel sick - 'I love you so much'. I'll say this words the next time we meet. GOD bless you richly. Remain blessed and loved. From your biggest fan and future husband - I hope - Joseph McPherson.//

Hailey dropped the letter, sat on the floor and screamed.
"No... Don't even think of coming back. Joseph I don't want to see you. No... I told you not to leave by you...did. Don't come".

Mr and Mrs Thomas were at table but could do nothing but stare at their food and at the chair Joseph would have sat if only he was still there. They imagined him smiling and urging them to eat. They nodded and had only taken few spoons from the Jollof rice and chicken dish when they heard Hailey screaming and crying. They totally lost appetite pushing the plate aside.
