"Hailey, are you okay?. How did the delivery go?", her mother asked as she entered, gaze fixed forward. She turned, eyes wide.
" Mummy, everything went well. Here's the money". She gave it to her mother who started counting it immediately. "It's complete. I made sure. I'll be in m room, mummy. Please call me when lunch is ready". And she ran to her room when she saw Joseph coming in. The two looked at her run.
" Did something happen, Joseph? ", Mr Thomas asked as he saw Hailey run pass him. Joseph shook his head in the negative and drank from his juice glass.
" I don't know. I also observed that she was acting strange".
"When lunch is ready", his mother said feeding him a biscuit, " you can go call her for me, okay?".
"It seems she needs a break. Come with me son. We have work to do at the chicken barn", Mr Thomas said and walked out. Joseph drank his glass and ran out to meet his father.
Hailey shut the door behind her and sat on the floor shaking her head from side to side trying to forget.
