Chapter Sixteen

I watched Kira pace around anxiously, Scott is sat on a box, Malia is slumped against a pillar, her eyes closed - next to us - and my head was laid in Stiles' lap as I laid on him, concentrating on my breathing.

My eyes somewhat drift to shut as Stiles was creasing my cheek softly, I know I was supposed to be mad, but when he offered me for me to lay on his lap instead of the concrete floor, I couldn't say no.

"You know, this is where it all starts," the sound of my boyfriend's voice echoed through my head. "That's where the money was. 117 million in bearer bonds."

"How do you even change bearer bonds into cash?" Kira's voice chimes in.

"Bank, I guess." Stiles answered. "They just let it sit here the whole time collecting dust. You know bearer bonds are basically extinct?"

"Why does it matter?"

"You know how many problems that money could solve?" Stiles questioned.

"For you?" Kira asked him.

"Me. My Dad..." Stiles trailed off. Why didn't he tell me he and his Dad were having money problems? "The Eichen House and MRI are crushing him."

"Mum does this thing," Scott begins. "She writes down all the items in our budget, and how much they cost, then she adds it all up and figures out how long we have until... We'd lose the house."

I felt Stiles crease my cheek again, I tried to act like I was sleeping. But I ended up snuggling into his chest some more, breathing his scent in.

After a while of just laying with him, I opened my eyes. "What's happening?" I mumbled out, connecting with his eyes, they were light brown.

"Nothing," Stiles answered. "We're still down here." I sighed softly. "I'm going over to Scott," I nod and pushed myself off him. My eyes land on Malia, who had woken up as well.

I shuffled over to her and pulled my knees close to my chest. "Hey," I tell her gently, Kira had walked over to us and bent down next to Malia.

"It's really cold," Malia admitted, her teeth chattering slightly.

"We need to tell her the truth about Peter," I tried not to look over towards the boy's direction, but I couldn't help but overhear. Ah huh! I knew they were hiding something from me. "Both of them. They're going to see the rest of the dead pool eventually," My eyes land on Malia. "And, we need to tell Addison about Derek. About unlocking the list."

They've been hiding something from Malia and I. "Addison? How do you think she's going to react when her father is the one that unlocked the last list? They've gotten so close in the past few months, I don't want her to think she's losing her father, again. I want to protect her from that disappointment. And try to remember that Peter is the one name missing on the list." Stiles whispered to his best friend.

"Which either makes him incredibly lucky with the benefactor, she finds out about him she's going to go to him, you know she is. And then, he's going to twist his way into her head as he does with everybody. Including us. We let him walk around like ever nothing happened like he's one of the good guys... Scott," Stiles continued in a hushed whisper. "He's not one of the good guys. If she finds out about him, she's gone. That's probably what he's waiting for and if he wins, we lose."

"We're already losing," Scott whispered harshly to him. My eyes shine with tears. Derek's name was on the one that unlocked the list? So what, he's dying and he didn't even care to tell me? What about Mum, does she know?

I buried my head in my knees. And what about that whole Peter and Malia thing? What's that supposed to mean? Why would Malia freak out about Peter? This secret was deeper than I thought it was. And the worse part was that everybody knew about it but Malia and I. That shit hurts a lot.

I refused to let the hot angry tears stream down my face that was threatening to fall. I need fresh air, I can't be here, Derek's dying - I have to be with him. "Hey," Stiles had bent down in front of me and I felt the tears swelling up some more. "Hey, hey, what's wrong?"

"I need some fresh air," I angrily whispered at him, I was furious at him, how could he keep this a secret from me? "Stiles, I feel like I can't breathe."

"Okay, I was going to go up anyways," Stiles tells me gently. "I'm guessing you want to come with?" I nod sharply, then I can get away from them easier. This place was suffocating. "Okay, I just need to check up on Malia, okay?"

I nod, not saying anything and blocked him out as he said goodbye to Malia. I jumped up and stormed over to the exit, clenching my fists slightly. "Addison?" I glanced over at Scott, I simply ignored him and stood at the exit. I was angry at him.

"I-" I cut myself off from throwing a fit and crossed my arms. "I just need some air." My eyes drift over to Kira who was watching us carefully, a small frown set on her face. "Your girlfriend needs you."

Scott gives me a look as I blow him off, turning to the door again. I heard footsteps behind me, I knew it was Stiles. The door opens suddenly and I stepped through quickly, Stiles followed behind me and we watched the doors close.

"Are you angry at me or something?" Stiles had questioned me - forcing me to turn towards him with his hands. "I have this strong feeling that you're angry at one of us."

"What are you hiding from me?" My eyes met his and his mouth drops slightly. "Don't even deny because I overheard you talking to Scott about this secret of yours."

"I- We-" He lets out a few stutters. "You were eavesdropping on us?" He had raised his voice, angered laced in his voice.

"Don't turn this around on me!" I yelled with just as much volume. "You're keeping secrets from me. Where is the trust in this relationship?! I- How could not tell me my own father is dying?" He doesn't say anything, his gaze dropped to the floor, he knew he'd been caught. I let out a huff. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going home."

Before I could storm down the hall, he'd reach out for my hand, catching it. "You can't go anywhere, remember? We're guaranteed."

Angrily, I pulled out from his grasp, almost growling. "Well, I don't want to be here right now. Not with you. Not with all you liars."

"Please don't do this," Stiles had whispered, I caught tears swelling up in his eyes. "Don't fall off the face of the Earth again. I only just got you, please, don't be - I can't lose you."

And now I'm stuck. He's managed to somehow twist this all-around towards me like this is my fault. He's trying to make me feel guilty for something I didn't do. "Don't do that," I hissed out. Pulling out from his grasp again. "I'll come with you, but don't expect me to talk to you. I'll talk when you decide to tell me the truth; about anything you haven't told me yet."

And like that, I stormed off, I heard Stiles sigh and he had followed me.
