"hyein? ready to go yet?" "just a second!" hyein louden her voice so chenle could hear her from outside
hyein checks around her room to see if anything was forgotten before taking a quick look in the little mirror on her study desk and grabbed her bag
"i'm rea- jesus chenle" hyein stepped back as she stared shockingly at the male leaning on the doorway in front of her
"never knew you're this jumpy" chenle chuckled at the startled girl as she only rolls her eyes in a playful manner
"you're the one who was right in front of my face as soon as i opened the door" "so?"
hyein stared blankly at the male in front of him before clicking her tongue in annoyance. "i'm not even going to answer you"
hyein started to walk pass him - out of her room and down to the stairs. she could hear chenle yelling "YOU JUST DID!!" from her room before the sound of footsteps running was getting nearer to her
chenle soon caught up to her as they are now walking down the stairs together with hyein maintaining a distance from him as she still felt annoyed from their conversation earlier
chenle noticed hyein kept distancing herself from him every time he tried to get closer to her which saddens him
he decided to wait for them to finish walking down the stairs before questioning her the moment they reached the first floor, hyein wanted to quickly run away from him but his grip on her wrist stopped her
"why are you distancing yourself from me?" hyein could hear the sadness in his tone not to mention, the pout he's wearing on his face looked to adorable in her eyes
hyein didn't want to prolong this childish matter between them which she knows she's being the childish one
"i'm sorry but i'm just not much of a morning person so i can get really cranky or easily pissed off"
but that wasn't a lie though, hyein absolutely hates waking up in the morning. so every morning, she rarely has a good mood to start her day
and her usual cranky self is much more crankier because of her sleepless night. she had trouble sleeping, she kinda blamed chenle though. because of his sudden question brought many questions to her own mind
she wanted to ask why he would suddenly ask her that but she's a bit shy to. she had a thought that maybe chenle was interested with her but remembering his sudden lost contact with her last year brought that thought down
"ah~ really?? i'm sorry then.." hyein felt bad from seeing the guilty expression on his face so she quickly shook her hands at him
"i-it's okay.. oh.. we need to go now or else we'll be late" hyein mentally cursed at how dumb she sound - she was embarrassed especially when she realized she also raised her right arm to look at her watch, wait let me rephrase that.. at her imaginary watch
chenle noticed her awkward sudden change of demeanor which sent him to a hearty laugh which embarrassed her even more
"well, let's go then. wouldn't wanna be late" chenle swiftly grab a hold of her wrist before smoothly ran his hand down to clasp their hands together
as the two teenagers walk out the house, hyein stared at their hands with widened eyes as she felt her heart racing faster than usual
she toughen herself to question the male, not caring how small her voice came out but it was hearable for him
"u-uh.. what's with the hand?" chenle looks down to her hands before shrugging. he passed her a sweet smile before flustering her even more with what he just said

"so she's staying at your house?" chenle nods at his friend
"for 8 months?" "maybe even more"
"and it's only the two of you in the house or .." "there's my mother but who knows maybe she'll visit dad"
jisung silently claps his hands at him as a small "woah" escaped his lips. chenle rose a brow at his friend's reaction before lightly nudging his side
the two males have free period at the moment and they decided to hang out in the rooftop where the usually hang out with the rest of their friends
but them being the youngest in their group meant that they have a different schedule with the rest since the rest are currently seniors so they usually spent more time together, just the two of them
which of course means, they're a lot closer than you think
"what's with the reaction?" jisung only grinned teasingly at him before saying,
"it's a chance for you to finish what you didn't before" chenle's face was still puzzled which made jisung sigh tiredly
"you liked her right? or maybe you still do.. you stopped contacting her after that but hey.. it's like life gave you another chance chenle"
chenle sighed at his friend's words before looking up to the blue sky above them. his eyes gazed over the fluffy clouds as he thought of a reply,
"she said she has never been in a relationship.. i don't think she was lying but you know there's another reason ji."
jisung stared at his friend with the feeling of pity shooting through his eyes which chenle noticed. "you don't need to pity me.. it's just how my life is"
jisung didn't like seeing his friend all drained and hopeless like this - it's not like chenle at all. the chenle he knows is an optimist who doesn't gives up easily. he wants to try encourage his friend and he did,
"there's still a chance chenle, it won't hurt to try"
chenle lowers his head as he momentarily stared at the high buildings in front of him before turning his head to meet jisung's eyes that were already looking at him
"but what if it hurts even more?"
