Chapter 2

THE CAMERON BOAT - EARLY MORNING

"Wheezie shut up." Sarah says, as John B was sneaking up onto the boat.

"You're not Wheezie." Sarah says, opening her eyes.

"Uh.. I'm just dropping off some scuba gear. What are- what are you doing here?" John B asks.

"John B? Long time no see." Jade asks, waking up to the sound of them talking.

"It's our boat. We were having a girl's night, and it's also the only place with air conditioning right now." Sarah says.

"Right." John B says.

"Did you um, top up the tanks?" Sarah asks.

"No, no. Power's down so the compressors were off." John B says.

"So you're sneaking onto our boat at 5 AM with empty tanks? I'll make sure to tell Ward." Sarah asks.

"Its 5 AM? I'm going back to sleep." Jade says, putting her head back onto the pillow.

"Okay. Okay. Cool. Cool. Just drop these off." John B says.

"Yeah, yeah. In the middle of the room is fine." Sarah says.

"Yeah, this is pretty much what he told me to do." John B says.

"Bye!" Sarah says.

"Actually, you know what? What are you actually gonna tell your dad?" John B asks.

"Nothing much, just that you poached our scuba gear." Sarah says.

"Okay, fuck. I just borrowed it for a few hours. And then I brought it back in tact and unharmed." John B says.

"Minus air." Sarah says.

"Okay, look please don't tell him. Okay? He's gonna fire me." John B begs.

"A girl is trying to sleep." Jade groans.

"So what are you gonna do? Pull a gun on me?" Sarah asks.

"Okay I didn't know JJ was gonna do that." John B defends.

"That's convenient to believe. Maybe you  should get better friends." Sarah says, getting a scoff from John B.

"Well, maybe you should get a better boyfriend." John B says.

"Like one who doesn't poach?" Sarah asks.

"Look, please just don't tell him. Okay?" John B begs.

"Relax. I'm not gonna tell him anything. Your secret's safe with me, John B." Sarah says.

"Okay, you can leave now." Sarah says, as John B went off the boat.

"What was that for?" Jade asks Sarah.

"What?" Sarah asks.

"You were definitely flirting with him." Jade says

"No I wasn't! Go back to sleep!" Sarah says.

THE LOCKE RESIDENCE - TWO HOURS LATER

"Where were you last night?" Michaela asks, seeing Jade walk into the kitchen.

"The Cameron boat. Girl's night with Sarah." Jade says, taking a sip of coffee.

"Were you with that boy?" Michaela whispers, getting nosy.

"We were in the same boat. He's my boyfriend!" Jade says.

"Anything else happen?" Michaela asks.

"No! Not yet anyways."  Jade hushes.

"Well, we need to pick your Midsummers outfit." Michaela brings up.
