Chapter 23

THE BASEMENT

"Get off the couch." Jade says, groaning.

"It's comfy." JJ says.

"Well I'm tired," Jade says.

"We can share." JJ says, hitting his juul that was filled with everything except nicotine.

"I'm not sharing the couch with you!" Jade says.

"Well I'm not getting off." JJ says.

"Why are you being so difficult?!" Jade yells.

"I'm not! I don't wanna get off the couch!" JJ says.

"I don't wanna even be in the same room as you!" Jade says.

"Oh but you can be in the same room as Rafe Cameron?" JJ asks.

"He was my boyfriend..we dated!" Jade says.

"You dated a kook! Don't you get that?!" JJ asks.

"You picked him over us, over the Pogues." JJ says.

"Last time I checked you picked screwing a touron." Jade snaps.

"Look— that wasn't what it looked like." JJ admits.

"Okay then what was it?!" Jade yells.

"It— it was." JJ stutters.

"That's what I thought. You're no better than Rafe Cameron!" Jade crosses her arms.

"Rafe Cameron is a spoiled fuckboy! He wasn't gonna treat you any differently!" JJ says.

"You're the first boy who broke my heart..you don't have a say in shit!" Jade yells.

"IT WASN'T LIKE THAT!" JJ yelled back.

"Then what was it like? Huh?!" Jade yells, pushing him and hitting his chest.

"I didn't wanna be bad." JJ says, grabbing her wrists.

"What?! What do you mean?" Jade asks, confused.

"You talked about how nervous you were.. and I- I just wanted to make sure you'd enjoy it." JJ says.

"What?" Jade asks, still confused.

"I- I needed practice." JJ admits.

"Why would you— oh my god." Jade says, realizing.

JJ slept with the Touron so he wouldn't be bad in bed when the time would come.

"That is so stupid!" Jade says. She couldn't help feeling that it was sorta sweet in a way.

".. It wasn't my proudest moment." JJ says.

"..yeah." Jade says, stunned.

"Sorry." JJ says, awkwardly. 

"Dumbass." Jade comments, sitting down on the couch.

JJ sat there in silence for a few moments before noticing that Jade was softy crying. It wasn't like she was bawling but she was crying.
