*ARCHIVED* Chapter 22: Not The Happy Surprise

"Where'd you say they Cursed are again?" I ask getting my equipment set. It's been a few days since our vist to Sarah and all we've been doing is planning. Now is our day to act. "By the lake towards the Dawson's house." Light says from the phone. "We are already there. Where's June?" "Sleeping. She dosen't know you guys are gone. I left a note. She'll be fine." I say. I check my gun one last time and fix my Nike sneakers, the only thing I took from New York. "Good. Hurry we don't have much time."

"I know I'm leaving now. Bye." Light and Azekel left early and left me to keep June safe. They said when June goes to sleep that should be a good time to leave. I walk out realizing the night looks beautifuler in Diovannia. The stars you can actually see. They switch around constantly....then I realize they aren't stars. Faries. Heh. Beautiful. I walk to the Dawson's house and enter the backyard silently before realizing the house is abandoned. I run the rest of the way to see Azekel and Light standing there talking. "Glad to see you showed up. How's June?" Azekel asks. "She's fine. There's nothing to worry about. Where to?"

I look at Light who's been awfully quiet. "Light. What's wrong?" He looks at me. "This is a suicide mission. One of us may not make it so let's make this count. Okay?" We nod surprised in Light's choice of words. "Let's go." I take out my gun ready to fire at anything. We walk to a small cave, Light leading the way, Azekel in the middle, I standing guard and closing the backyard gate before catching up with them.

I hear nosies from deep in the cave and silence the boys. "Its her. She ordering her Cursed." Light says.

"What's new." Azekel says.

I walk following the sound of Lilly's voice, signaling for the boys to stay there. Good luck Mira. Be mindful. She was your best friend once. Don't let her get to you. I smile at Light and keep moving.

"Well well look who finally decided to show up!" Lilly says as I walk in. "Just in time, just finished talking to your mother. She seems so lonely,maybe you can cheer her up." I see my mother straped up in mechanial gear and a frail look in her hazel eyes. I try not to keep my yearning to save my mother inside show and hide my face expressionless. "Yes. I came.. Did I miss the refreshments?" I say teasingly. "Where are they? Your little friends?"

"Dead. Killed them all weren't worth my time. Where yours?" I lie.

"Heh,You killing people. That's a first. I thought I knew you better than that!" She says pouting. "Well you thought wrong." I walk around her noticing her outfit change. A dark saffron top with red jeans and glass heels. I grab her and pull her into a head lock. "What are you-"  She tries to squirm away but I keep her still. "Release her. Now." I take out my gun aiming it at her temple. I guide her toward my mother and goes to unlock it when she hits me in the head knocking me to the floor. She grabs my gun aiming it at me. "You made me do this Mira. Say goodbye. Forever."  Still with the gun aimed, she backs up hitting a few buttons on a keypad. Chains from the floor entangle me in web.  She hits more buttons and the floor lifts up like the death chair my mother is in. "What are doing!" I try to move but I'm locked in with the chains. I didn't notice before but a needle lays inches away from my mothers neck. "W-what is that? W-what are you doing with that?!" I yell. "You cost me so much Mira. So much pain and torture. You lied so much, and for a second I actually thought Sarah was alive."

"That's because she is!!"

"SHE IS DEAD! I SAW HER DIE SO SHUT IT!!" She screams. I'm taken aback by this sudden rage. I decide to stay silent. "Now its time for you to see, the pain I had home through for so long. Being chased by every Cursed known to man! Now you will see what's it is like to be chased." The needle gets injected and me and my mother look at each other, one last time, before I see her blank expression. I feel the chains unlocked on both of us. Instead of trying to help my mother, I run add far as I can out of the cave. Light and Azekel share confused looks but follow. This time I really screwed up. There's no way to save her......but...but...
Kill her...
