Chapter 36

"Get the fuck down here" Ella hears and she quickly ran down the stairs with her backpack thrown over her shoulder

"What's wrong" Ella asks quietly as she looks up at the man in front of her that reeked of alcohol

"You got mail. Your having some fucking hearing for that Hannah baker girl that decided to slit her wrists a few months ago" he growls and Ella looks down and plays with her fingers and doesn't say anything though she really wanted too "are you just going to ignore me you little shit? What the fuck did you do? Your going to draw attention to me again and I'm gonna have child protective services knocking on my fucking door again"

"You don't need to go and I'm sure they won't even need to know anything about my home life" Ella chokes out and let's out a cry of pain as he hits her across the face

"Are you saying I'm a shitty father?" He growls angrily and she looks up at him in fear and shakes her head quickly

"Of course not sir" she replies and tries to hold the tears back and he throws his beer bottle on the ground and she jumps from the loud smash

"If I get any questions I'm gonna make sure you won't be around any longer do you understand me? I'll fucking kill you" he growls and she nods her head and takes the large yellow envelope off the table that was already ripped open and she runs out the door and grabs her skateboard that was leaning against the house and she quickly jumped on it and rode to school while reading it on her way

Ella quickly wipes her tears away as she shoves her board and the envelope in the back of montys truck when she spotted it and then walked inside

She walks to her locker but stops when Tyler walks up to her and asks "did you get one too?"

"What are you talking about" she asks and doesn't look at him but continues to walk even though she knew exactly what he was talking about

"The police went around handing people envelopes. People who were on the tapes and your on the tapes. I don't think they know about them yet but the truth will come out. They will find out about what you did" Tyler says

"Fuck off tyler" Ella growls angrily. It was unusual for the girl to be like this but since last night she changed

"Is that Ella speaking or her boyfriend?" Tyler asks

"I said fuck off" Ella growls and draws the attention of everyone in the hallway and they stare at her in shock And whispers filled the hallway but then Montgomery came storming down the hallway and Bryce trailed behind him

Montgomery shoves Tyler hard to the ground before taking the girls hand in his own and leading her down the hallway but Tyler comes up and shoves Ella to the ground which makes Montgomery blind with rage and he quickly grabbed Tyler and slammed him against the lockers "Don't you dare fucking touch her or I'll kill you"

Bryce runs up and pushes Montgomery back and Ella stands up and holds montys hand to calm him down while Bryce yells "Jesus enough"

Bryce turns to Tyler and asks him  "you alright man?" But Tyler shoves him off harshly

"I'm sick of this shit" Tyler says angrily

"Okay" Bryce says calmly and raises his hand in surrender and Tyler wacks his hand away

"Monty babe come on let's get to class" Ella mumbles into his ear but he ignores her and glares at Tyler he would kill him for hurting her "please monty"

Bryce walks over to them and all three of them walk to class while Monty flares at Tyler but Ella kisses him on the cheek quickly and leads him to class but on the way they spot Sherri and Ella felt flare guns go off in her head as Sheri smiled at her and walked over

"Hey El-" Sheri starts but is cut off by a fist coming into the girls face and everyone looked at Ella in shock

"Ella what the fuck" Bryce asks and Sheri looks up at Ella with fear in her eyes, not fear that Ella would hit her again. But fear that Ella knew her secret. That Ella knew what Hannah said was true.

"Ella I can ex-" Sheri starts but Ella cuts her off as tears pour down her cheeks

"He's dead all because of you. It's your fucking fault. You almost killed me and you killed the most important person in my life" Ella cries angrily and in sadness

It hurt monty to hear it but he knew it was true. The bond between Ella and Jeff was magical, fate. And Montgomery excepted that a while ago

"I'm so sorry" Sheri cries in guilt but Ella didn't care how many times the girl said sorry

"You think sorry can just fix everything. You killed someone Sher okay you killed someone" Ellas voice cracked "you killed my someone"

"It was an accident" Sheri says back with tears in her eyes

"It was an accident being your friend. Don't speak to me ever again" Ella says and storms off while Montgomery runs after her and they make it outside of school and he pulls her into his arms and ran his hand over her hair soothingly as she cried into his chest and clutched onto his for dear life

"She was my best friend" Ella cries "I shouldn't of punched her but she killed him. She took him away from me and she didn't even tell me. She talked to me everyday and not once did she mention what she did"

"It's okay baby. I'm gonna fix you okay. I'm going to fix you" Montgomery whispers into her hair "I know I will"

"You can't fix me. I'm too broken Monty" she mumbles into his shirt

"I won't stop until I fix you" he promised her and then they walked hand in hand back in school ignoring all of the glances that were being thrown their way
