I'll survive

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Astrid woke up early in the morning and the first thought that came to her mind was today is the day.
Today is the day.
She quickly put on her Weasley jumper over her night- suit and put on a pair of shoes.
Today is the day.
Astrid ran down to her common room, it was completely empty and pretty dark.
Today is the day.
She went up to the common room door and opened it to see George Weasley standing there.
Today is the day.
"Let's go Georgie!" She smiled and got a hold of his wrist, pulling him behind her.
"We've only got today, so let's not waste any time" She said with a grin.

The two teens reached the astronomy tower, gasping for their breaths.
"For a quidditch player, you aren't really that fit" George told the girl.
"You're more out of breath than I am!" She slapped his shoulder lightly.
George climbed up the roof of the Astronomy tower and pulled Astrid up right after.
The two sat together and watched the sunrise in complete silence.
"Will you miss me?" Astrid asked him.
"Of course" He looked at her.
"I'll miss you a lot, it seems like I only got you back" She didn't move her gaze away from the sky.
"Me too." He shook his head.
"I want you to go though, I don't want to hold you back"
"You can still always come with me. Fred won't mind"
"I have to take care of your brother, Harry and Hermione. I can't leave them here with this bitch" Astrid explained helplessly. George nodded in understanding. She had some responsibilities as a member of the order.
"You ready for your NEWTs?" He asked changing the subject.
"I hope so. I think I'll pass" She chuckled. "I don't care anyways. School was never for me"
"That is true" He laughed and Astrid couldn't help but laugh too, his smile, his happiness was way too contagious for her too handle.

"I've been talking to Charlie you know.." Astrid told him, a smile still lingering on her face.
"And I thought I was the only one! First Fred, now Charlie too!" George shook his head, "You're a player, Stonewall"
The girl smiled as she hit his chest with the back of her arm, "No! You arse! He's offered me a job! In Romania"
George's smile faltered slightly.
"What?"
"He said they had an opening in the Dragon Sanctury of Romania and I could intern a few years there before getting a permanent job in the English magical creature Sanctuary to study other animals" She explained.
"You're going to Romania?"
"I haven't decided yet. But if I don't find a better opportunity, I may. Only for a year though"
George looked at her in shock, he didn't expect her to leave so soon.
"You can't just LEAVE!"
"Why not!?"
"I- I don't know- Everyone's here! Family, Friends, everyone!"
"Aren't you Leaving too!?" Astrid was bewildered at his sudden outburst.
"I'm not leaving the country!"
"And I have no family here George!" Astrid blurted and instantly regretted those words.
The Weasleys had been nothing but her family. Sirius and Tonks were technically her cousins.
Molly was her godfathers' sister.
Astrid did have a family here.
George didn't say anything. He didn't look at her, he didn't open his mouth and his face didn't form wrinkles on the forehead. He had a flat face which was making it hard for Astrid to tell what he was thinking.
"I didn't mean that. You know what I meant.." Astrid said in a much lower volume.
"You're right...you should follow your dreams. It's only one year, and you can always visit" George wasn't sad or angry. He didn't want to stop her from doing what she wanted.
"It shouldn't matter anyways, I might not even love to see a dragon" George's eyes shot up to Astrids as those words left her mouth. He wanted to say no, he wanted to tell her that it wasn't true and that he didn't believe in it or rather didn't want to believe in it but after seeing his parents so worried about Astrid he had realized that it was no joke and the prophecy was in fact going to be true.
Instead of going further on this topic, George diverted his attention to the sky.
"What are we doing next?" He asked.
"Hogsmeade? Let's go to Honeydukes" Astrid suggested and he nodded.

Astrid was beyond happy to spend the day with George. She was going to miss having him around. And that day she had forgotten about the prophecy, about umbridge and about everyone else. It was just her and George.
"You ready?" He asked her and she gave him a thumbs up. He counted down from three and right at one, Astrid used her spell.
The Hogwarts floor was once again spongy and cushiony.
"Be careful not to set them off!" Astrid told George who was on his broom, putting smoke bombs into place. Astrid climbed up on her broom as well and the two flew out of the castle into the quidditch pitch laughing hysterically.
"She won't be able to tell it's us for sure"
"Even if she does, it doesn't matter" Astrid shrugged.
"Don't worry about it, she won't. Our method was foolproof" George and Astrid High-fived before taking a few laps around the pitch.

"I wish we could turn ourselves into Dumbledore. That would've been so much fun" George said as the two approached the stands.
"Well we could've if someone hadn't knocked my cauldron off all over the floor" Astrid playfully eyed the redhead.
"It's not my fault! Who keeps a cauldron on the floor right in the middle of the room!?"
"Who misses a cauldron about the size of a house elf kept in the middle of the room!?"
"Apparently I do" George lightly shoved Astrids shoulder.

"When will you come visit me?" George asked.
"The moment I get off the Hogwarts express" Astrid replied taking a bite from her bowl of ice cream.
"It'll be weird not seeing you everyday" George said sadly.
"It will. I can't imagine what I'd do...I just need to survive a month, how hard can it be?"
"Do you want me to answer that?" George asked knowing full well that one month with umbridge was going to be more than difficult.
"I'll mange" Astrid leaned on the kitchen counter behind her.
"Don't get into any trouble" George told her, only earning a scoff from Astrid.
"I'm serious!" He said whole rolling his eyes.
"No you're George, Sirius is at home" Astrid chuckled.
"Okay, I might've walked right into that one" a grin spread across his face.
"Don't worry, these scars only make me more badass" Astrid laughed.
George had learned pretty quickly that there was no point in being serious with the girl. She already had so much in her head, maybe joking around was a coping mechanism, maybe she was just funny. George didn't ask her or question it. He just went with it and stood behind her when she was about to fall.

The day went by quicker than any of the two anticipated. George and Astrid sat in the courtyard, her head leaning on his shoulder.
"You still have a choice" George said, "come with me?"
"There are more important things. With Dumbledore not here, I can't leave Harry alone. I have to keep an eye on him" Astrid said with an audible sigh.
They sat there in silence for a few seconds before George spoke up again, "Astrid?"
"Yeah?"
"Move. My arm is falling a sleep" Astrid looked at him with a raised eyebrow before the two burst into a loud laughter echoing in their surroundings.

The next day Astrid, Noah and Dana sat down at the Gryffindor table with a smile on her face.
"You both ready?" She asked the twins who seemed pretty excited.
"Ready!" They said in unison.
"So how was yesterday?" Fred smirked at the girl teasingly.
"It was fun! A few pranks and a lot of ice cream"
"Was that all?" Fred asked.
"Would you like to know anymore?" Astrid winked at the boy as George laughed beside him.
Fred's nose scrunched up.
"Oh don't make that face! We all know you and Noah snogged in every corner of the castle" Astrid rolled her eyes. Noah's face turned completely red and he refused to look up from his plate.
"Write a letter to us once you both reach. Write it in code so umbridge doesn't track it" Dana told the boys who nodded. "Don't do anything too stupid!"
"Us?" George started.
"Stupid?" Fred continued.
"Never!" The twins said together.

Astrid put her arms around Fred and hugged him tightly.
"Woah there Astrid! Taking classes from mum I see" he joked and Astrid hit his head with her hand.
"Don't ruin the moment!" She told him. "Don't die or do anything too dangerous and don't tell your mum that I supported you in this, she will murder me. And write to me as soon as you reach and keep me updated."
"I will! Don't worry so much!" Free said.
The two broke off and Astrid moved to George, flinging her arms around him.
"I love you"
"I love you too, and I'll miss you"
"Only a month right? I'll survive"
"yeah! With those badass scars!" The two let go of  the warm embrace and Astrid pulled George into a soft kiss.
"Don't get in trouble with Umbridge, I mean it" George said, their heads still connected.
"I won't" She replied.

"Ready Fred?"
"Ready George" Astrid , Noah, Dana and Lee gave one last wave to their friends before they climbed up onto their brooms and zoomed off into the sky.
