Chapter 16: what is the truth

Dinah's pov

It's been more than 24 hours that I hired Normani it should be normal to talk to her as a friend and get the information out right?

Who am I kidding, I'll end up being a creepy boss to her if I try this

So what can I do? What are even my option?

Well I got no right answer
Because the truth be told I don't know Normani and what kind of person she is but I do need to try have more information about Lauren otherwise I've the risk my best friend falling for the wrong person and I can't bare to see her in pain again after what happened

After few minutes I heard a knock

" come in"

"Good morning "I heard say but she sounds a little bit nervous so I shifted my eyes from the computer screen to her to see if my assumetion was true

And definitely was, she was shaking a little bit more than a normal person should

Why the hell am I even thinking that much without answering knowing that she is nervous

"Good morning miss Kordei you can sit not gonna eat you well until you want me to" I said and she looked at me totally shocked

To make things less awkward I made the situation more awkward

What am I even doing, if I keep going like this she will got me arrested for harassing her

I cleared my throat

"Sorry for the comment earlier I'm just to stressed about the work that I didn't even realise what the heck I was saying anyway I called you here because as a employer is my duty to get to know my employee so we can all work better and in perfect synchronisation, I know you are new and visibly shaken, I guess because it's your first day but don't be, I asked for you only to get to know you and you to me to you can understand my work standards"
She nodded

"I perfectly understand mam" talked about work at first so she want get suspected and after that first interaction I need to be more careful

"I hope you got everything right "

"don't worry mam I understood everything and will be an absolute pleasure to work this recruitment because it will me a lot to learn " she said smiling and getting up

And honestly I liked her reply she seems a hard worker and I need worker like her

Before she left I stopped her.

"Wait a minute it's not work related but i saw you in the wedding, in Lauren and camila's"

"Ohhh right I knew it i saw you somewhere, yeah I was there because it was my best friends wedding "

"Oh so Lauren is your best friend, well then tell her from me I'm sorry for her mom camila told me " I said genuinely but her answer shocked me

"What HAPPENED to Clara" she asked totally shocked and in a caring tone

But I was puzzled

I mean isn't she her best friend, shouldn't she already know about this? Then why Is she acting so shocked?

" she got cancer "

" What I didn't know about this Lauren didn't told me anything about this"

I knew it there was something wrong but I didn't know I'll find my answer before even trying

Why would you not tell your best friend about your problems?

I felt someone shaking me so I looked at her and she said

" mam your phone is ringing" I nodded and went to pick my phone

What an idiot I am in front of her I thought shaking my head

I know I know but also I was going through a bad time I just found out something really important about my family, everything is a lie and my father isn't even my own, my mom lied to him saying I was his and made him separate from his family and the most shocking thing is he left his three children and just be with be with me and mom
He did really bad with those people
But karma hit him I guess because I'm not his all my suspect where true
said Shawn I can kinda feel him crying slowly and exhausted

Do you want me to come and stay with you for few minutes?

No no thanks actually I'm in my jet going to Germany to meet camila but she is not answering

I called with my other phone but no luck so I sent her a text

Hey mila why are not answering anyway got few news for you first I told you there's something wrong about Lauren I mean I hired her best friend and today I asked her about Lauren mom and she was totally clueless so tell me what can be the odds? And answer Shawn he is coming to Germany for you and now he needs more than anything

I called her Shawn but she is not even answering me so I sent her a text hopefully she will see that

Yeah well I need to go I'll call you when I reached Germany
