8: Change Up

[~1ST POV~]

It's been a week since the incidents at the Fall Formal occurred with Sunset and Jin.

After the Fall Formal, Sunset was handing out apologies to everyone at school and offered up her assistance with the school's function. Some students accepted her apology, but the other half didn't. It may take a little while to earn the trusts of others, but eventually they will forgive her and leave the past behind.

On the other hand, Jin actually transferred to Canterlot High because he was curious about the educational institutions of humans. Although he had done nothing to the students at CHS, they also bear some sort of resentment towards him. Yet, he didn't seem to care if they hated or liked him.

Clearly, both of them were slowly starting to reform from their villainous ways. The girls forgave Sunset and Jin for their past acts, and everything seemed normal.

At the moment, all of us were sitting at a table in the cafeteria. Rarity and Fluttershy were painting each other's nails, Rainbow Dash twirled her empty lunch tray on top of her fingers, Pinkie Pie and Applejack were eating Granny Smith's apple pie, and Sunset was studying for an upcoming Calculus test. While the girls are doing their own things, Jin and I were playing on my Nintendo Switch.

'You've never played Mario Kart and yet you're ahead of me!?'

We were on the last lap; my Yoshi was in second place right behind the captor of first place: Jin's Waluigi. All I needed was a Blue or Red Shell to pass him up!!
Seeing a row of item boxes, I went for one of the unique, rotating boxes. A few seconds later, the item box gives me triple mushrooms.

Oh yeah!

I used the items, giving my Yoshi a small boost and eventually it was enough to pass up Jin's Waluigi; I was now in first place! Spotting the finish line with hopeful eyes, I thought I was going to finally win against the male!

Unfortunately, the game wasn't on my side today because someone activated their Blue Shells which seeks out the racer in first place and shoots a projectile at them.

As my Yoshi was stunned for a couple of seconds, Jin takes back first place and drives through the finish line.

'Heh. Looks like I win.' Jin says in my mind.

I managed to finish in third place because Princess Daisy passed me up by using a Mushroom.

"I give up!" I said before planting my face flat down at the table.

"I'm guessing you beat her at Mario Kart again?" Sunset questions the male while caressing my black locks.

"Yep. Actually she passed me up and had first place until someone had used their Blue Shells which caused her to fall back. Better luck next time." Jin chuckles, causing me to glare up at him.

"You'll get first place next time, (Y/N).." Fluttershy says in a timid manner.

"You're such an angel, Fluttershy!" I grinned at her before turning my head at the bell, not noticing the blush she had on her cheeks.
