The General's Birthday Bash

Corazon's POV

Today is a Saturday. Its a very special day for our family. The most important man in my life is celebrating his 55th birthday today. Its been six months since he got into the accident that almost took his life. But through God's grace all is well now. He has fully recovered. Lucy is now back in the States. Our relationship is getting stronger and stronger each day. And we haven't had any single fight since then.

The birthday celebrant is still sleeping soundly beside me. His arms wrapped around my waist. I caressed his face and showered him with butterfly kisses in his face. But that didn't wake him up. Ang himbing pa din ng tulog ng asawa ko. Maybe he's tired or napuyat. Edgar sleep with us tonight and he asked his Papa Gen to play video games with him.

"Ang gwapo talaga ng asawa ko. Sino magaakala na 55 na ang taong ito. Ang swerte swerte ko talaga", I told myself then pinch his nose. Hindi pa din nagigising. I slowly removed his arms from my body then I get out the bed to prepare a special breakfast in bed for him. I also baked his favorite mango cake last night while he and Edgar are playing video games. I was busy cooking a special fried rice for Marcial  at hindi namalayan na nakababa na pala si Edgar.

"Good morning Lola Mommy", he greets me with a wide smile on his face. Habang lumalaki ang batang ito, mas nagiging kamukha ni Marcial kesa sa Daddy Ethan niya. And Marcial couldn't be prouder. Laging pinagmamalaki na mini me niya si Edgar.

"Good morning baby. How's your sleep?", I carried him and let our househelp finish what I'm cooking.

"I sleep well po. Where's Papa Gen? Its his birthday today".

"Natutulog pa baby. But we will surprise him with a breakfast in bed. Tapos ikaw maghahawak nitong cake. And you'll sing happy birthday for him ha".

Edgar nods "Yes po. And I'll put icing on his face", he giggles.

I prepared Marcial's breakfast and put everything in the tray. His coffee is ready too.

"Baby, lets go na to your Papa Gen. Gisingin na natin. You hold this cake na. Careful ha".

"Okay po".

Marcial is still sleeping when we entered our room.

"Happy birthday Papa Gen. Happy birthday happy birthday. Happy birthday to you", Edgar sings and jumps on the bed which awakens my husband.

"Hello baby", he kissed our grandchild.

"Happy birthday Papa Gen. I love you".

"Thank you baby. I love you more", Marcial replied and hugged our Edgar.

"Happy birthday, Mahal. Blow your cake na",I smiled sweetly at nilapit sa kanya ang cake. 

"Thank you Ma", he smiled back and blows the candle. He then kissed me on my lips.

"Breakfast in bed for the best husband, best father and best lolo in the world".

"Wow. Lahat ng paborito ko niluto mo ah. Thank you Mahal. Pero baka pinagod mo na naman ang sarili mo. Ang dami mo niluto".

"Don't worry Mahal. Di ako napagod okay. Oh kain na. Ahh".

"Ma di mo na ako kelangan subuan. Kaya ko na to", Marcial giggles.

Corazon pouted like a little girl "Tinatanggihan mo na ako".

"Wag ka na magtampo Ma. Oh eto na. Kakainin ko na", then he lets me put the food in his mouth while Edgar giggles.

"By the way Ma, aalis muna ako. Leo asked me to go off roading with him",  Marcial informed me.

"Birthday na birthday mo aalis ka!", I replied with a disappointment in my voice. Marcial hold my hand.
