Megan held Erik's charm in her hand. So much for Jean's guarantees, she thought bitterly, letting the teardrop slip to the floor. She got off the bed. Her head swam as she rose. But still she crept to the door. Leaning her ear against the wood, she tried to listen in, but the storm howling outside made it hard to hear. She needed an amplifier. On cat feet, Megan ran into the bathroom and pulled out the glass with orange juice in it. She shook the glass clear, not daring to turn on the water to wash it. Then she ran back to the door, where she placed the glass against the door, and her ear against the glass, so she could listen in on Sean and Erik.
