Rolling over I winced as the sunlight beaming through my bunks curtains caught me in the eye. My first morning at Cherryton had arrived. I groan and stretch my arms above my head, grabbing my phone I check the home screen for the time '07:16'. I didn't yet know the schedule here, but at my old school I'd normally wake up around seven so now was probably the right time to shake a leg.
Pulling back the curtains I look around too see both Taka's and Ethne's bunks still closed up, while Mayumi is awake and sorting her school bag for the day, referencing her timetable and packing the appropriate books. 'Oh yeah my timetable' I realise, again reaching for my phone as I swing my legs over the beside, sitting with my head ducked below the bunk top. Mayumi spots that I'm awake and waves with a joyful smile, I too grin in response as I pull up an email from the school.
"Is that your lesson plan?" Mayumi whispers as she comes and sits beside me, consciously keeping her voice down as not to disturb the others. I nod and scroll through the email. "What have you got first?" the coyote to my left asks with her head tilted. "Sea-speak?" I shrug, turning to look at her. "What's that?" she hesitates for a moment, "It's like another language," she explains "It's what sea creatures use under the water, like seals and sharks." I nod as Mayumi fetches her notebook labelled sea-speak from her bag. Opening it up she shows me a series of pages with all kinds of translations on them, strange.
"Oh woah," I gasp in a hushed voice, "That's actually kind of cool." she giggles at my curiosity and puts the book back. "Sure is, and lucky for you I've got it first too so you'll be in my class!" she exclaims. A sigh followed by some shuffling is heart from Taka's bunk as Mayumi shouts, she brings her hand to her mouth and her cheeks flush red "Whoops..." she whispers, having forgotten about our sleeping dorm-mates. I quietly chuckle at her and shake my head, grabbing my bag with a series of empty notebooks as I read the rest of my lesson plan, packing one book for each.
Having read the email I come to the conclusion that generally Cherryton had a very relaxed system, besides the first lesson of the day being at nine o'clock most of the day's were a different combination of lessons and frees for lunch and snacking. 'Not bad' I think with a smile, having a less rigid system would make things feel a lot friendlier and give me a chance to meet more people. For now though I'll stick by these three girls, having compared timetables with them all as they woke. I found I have both sea-speak and food-prep with Mayumi, biology with Taka, and sport with Ethne. A lot of our free periods lined up too, which was perfect for getting lunch together, and we'd be able to today as we all had third free.

"That was way more boring that you made it seem." I complain to Mayumi as we leave the sea-speak classroom. She giggles and nods her head "Yeah but I couldn't tell you that could I?" I shrug and adjust my bag on my back. "I guess so, whats next?" I ask, Mayumi grabs a printed version of her timetable from her pocket, excessive phone usage was looked down upon in school hours. "I've got biology." she tells me as she neatly folds the paper and tucks it away again.
