•~Legoshi P.O.V.~• "You might want to come with me for a minute while the others calm Kai." I suggest as I hold my hand out to the cowering (Y/N). Kai had started an outrage at her at the mention of Tem, it's not her fault, she didn't know.
I couldn't resist the need to help as I heard her whimpering through the shouting. Something about that sound bothered me, maybe it's a part of that same species thing I'd been learning about in biology. Either way I had stepped in, immediately unsure of my decision as her tearful eyes meet mine.
The smaller white wolf nods as she places her palm in mine, my stomach drops. 'What am I doing?!' I feel myself panic, I made the wrong decision. 'You're meant to avoid her not help her!' my mind screams at me as I walk her away from the group and to the outside of the club building. God I hope no one sees this and gets the wrong idea.
She lets out a heavy sigh and slumps to the ground, sitting with her back against the brick wall. "Thanks Legoshi." she mumbles, her voice still trembling. I nod and stand to the left of her, deciding it best to not sit down. "Uh it's no problem," I murmur, scratching the back of my neck as my voice rumbles, ugh I hate that I always sound so harsh. "Just try to calm down a bit then we can head back." I suggest, keeping my gaze away from her. Out of the corner of my eye I see her nod her head as she wipes her watery eyes with her sleeve.
A few moments of silence pass before my ears unexpectedly perk, (Y/N) is whimpering, crying again. I hate that sound. It's too much to comprehend. It makes my head scream and rattle. My instinct tells me to help, that's why we're here in the first place. But then another part of me, my sense, tells me I can't step in. I shouldn't.
I'm going to regret this.
"Hey, you okay?" I question carefully as I sit beside the sobbing girl, trying to make my frame as small as possible to not seem a threat. She nods and suddenly throws her arms around my torso, sniffling into my shoulder. My body freezes and locks up in shock. This is bad.
Hesitantly I snake my arm around her shoulders, gently rubbing her back as her figure shakes. Something about Kai's yelling must've really upset her, but why? It's not like it was anything extreme? Perhaps I'm just used to the antics of that bad tempered mongoose.
We remain like this for some time as (Y/N) calms herself, I'll admit I wasn't helping much, I couldn't bring myself too. There's just something about her cry, it boils guilt in me. I hate to hear it...
=8 Years Prior=
A mother and her son walk hand in hand toward the school playground. Their tails wag in sync as the little boys backpack bounces with his stride. Just as they approach the school gates his mother stops, looking around with some urgency.
"Bub do you hear that?" she asks her son, using his nickname. He shakes his head as his ears flop, making his mum laugh. "Listen though," she pauses, holding her finger up to the open air. "Somebody is crying." she frowns, attempting to listen closer for the direction of the sobs.
"Come on." she states, holding her sons hand firmly as she walks with some pace in her step in the direction of the whimpers. They enter the schools back entrance, into the gated concrete playground. "There!" she gasps, suddenly running as her son struggles behind her.
In the far left corner of the playground is a little girl, hiding in a corner as she whimpers, clutching the fabric of the dress she wears. "Oh my!" the mother exclaims, urgently rushing to the aid of the child, her son hiding behind her. "Are you okay sweetheart?" she asks cautiously, with a gentle look in her eye.
The little girl shakes her head and continues to sob. "I-I lost my dada..." she whines as she peaks up at the mother. "Oh hun that's okay, we can find him yeah?" the mother reassures, her son stood watching. The little girl nods and wipes her nose on her sleeve.
"What does your dad look like?" the mum asks, holding her hand out to the child. "He's like me, but brown..." she sniffles. The mother hesitates as she scans the child. "So he's a wolf?" she asks, the little girl nods.
"Oh so are we, aren't we Bub?" she grins in reference to her son, who finally steps forward as the girl spots him. He nods and smiles to her. "Mhm, I'm a wolf too!" he chimes, spinning in a circle to show his tail. "See! A wolf!" he shouts, making the girl giggle. She again nods as the mother watches the two.
"Let's go find your dad then sweetheart." the mother smiles, her son nods eagerly in agreement, taking the little girls hand in his as he jogs to the front of the school. The mother watches on as the two wolf kids run with one another. A smile resting on the girls face now instead as she runs with the mums son...

"Everything okay out here?" the sudden voice of Dom brings me from my thoughts. I immediately separate from (Y/N) and shuffle to the side. She's stopped crying now and her demeanour is much calmer than what it was moments before. "Yeah, thanks Dom." she smiles, standing up and stretching her arms over her head. Dom nods his head as he steps back in the doorway "Good good, come back in when you feel ready, you'll be glad to hear Kai's cooled off." he grins. (Y/N) giggles and nods again as Dom leaves.
I stand up and crack my neck, my figure suddenly towering above the girl beside me as I reach my full height. She looks up to me and smiles "Thanks again, Legoshi." she mumbles as her white cheeks tint pink. I fail to look her in the eye as I turn to the door "Uh no problem. Let's h-head back yeah?" I suggest with a stutter as she takes the lead back into the club building.
That cry, it brings back so much. How she had yet to know me was a shock. I have to take a step back, keep away from her... I have to...
