Cygnet took a deep breath - steadying herself as she hopped onto a building to regain her bearings. It had been a few days since she had passed out in front of Marinette and Luka, and both Marinette and Adrien had found out the ‘truth’ about her place of residence - meaning that they knew she was living alone, but not that she was their daughter from the future.

But her parent’s current states in their love lives were definitely taking a toll on her. The nosebleeds came more consistently, and she got tired easily. She was physically weaker, and her bones were more prominent against her face.

But, villains didn’t sleep, so neither did she. The three superheroes patrolled three times a week every week to search for akumas, or any sign of Hawkmoth at all. They didn’t often help with non-akuma related issues, but each of them at one point in time had dealt with them.

“Cygnet? You okay?” She heard Ladybug ask. Ladybug was running towards the fallen heroine, and Cygnet gratefully took Ladybug’s hand and held her breath as she pulled herself up. “Yeah, just tired, I guess.” She lied smoothly. Ladybug’s eyes narrowed.

“I would tell you to go home, but I can’t patrol the city myself..” She trailed off, angrily typing into her yoyo. She growled in annoyance. “Grr! Where is that tomcat?”

“Meowch, m’lady. That hurt,” Cat Noir broke in, sliding down his baton as he entered the conversation. Ladybug’s bluebell eyes narrowed dangerously. “Where have you been Chaton? Patrol started fifteen minutes ago.” She said, pointing at her wrist for emphasis.

Cat Noir whistled nervously, his mind playing back to around that time, where his father had disapproved of his playing and had ‘locked’ him in his room for the rest of the day. “Er...yeah. Sorry, m’lady. I got held up,” He excused himself.

Ladybug's stance didn’t falter, but her eyes softened as she looked at Cygnet, putting a hand on Cygnet’s shoulder. “Why don’t you go home now, Cygnet? Cat Noir and I got it covered.” Ladybug tried to reassure her, but Cygnet shook her head. “I’m fine! I can still help-” She was saying when she collapsed again - her face missing the floor by a hair as Cat Noir caught her.

“Whoa. You okay?” He asked, his eyebrows furrowing in concern as Cygnet nodded nervously, separating from him. “Peachy,” She responded. “Please, Cygnet. Go home. We don’t want you to be too sick for the next akuma,”  Ladybug said - trying to convince her to go home.

Cygnet clearly didn’t want to go home, but the green tint to her skin said otherwise. “Okay,” She agreed hesitantly. She shook a finger at the two of them. “But you guys have to call me when patrol is over,” She warned them. Ladybug nodded excitedly.

“Fine. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” She said pointedly before leaping off into the distance. Ladybug sighed in relief, sharing a look with Chat. “That girl is stubborn,” He stated matter-of-factly as Ladybug laughed. “Tell me about it,” She groaned, pointing somewhere in the background.

“I was over there when I saw Cygnet jumping to this building - looking like she was going to pass out at any second. I’m worried about her,” Ladybug said quietly. “Think about it, Chat. According to the rules of the Black Swan miraculous, that girl has been through unimaginable terrors. And now she looks sick? What if she was a...a cancer survivor or something, and she’s sick again?”

Cat Noir didn’t think, but wrapped his arms around his lady in a tight embrace. “Ladybug, I know we just met Cygnet a few months ago, but I know for a fact that she’s one tough cookie. Whatever she’s going through with now, all we can do is help in any way we can and hope for the best.”

The two separated from their hug, but their eyes locked, and Ladybug couldn’t help but stare at the pure earnesty in her partner’s eyes. “Okay?” He asked as she nodded slowly, but quickly hugged her partner again. “Thank you, Cat Noir. You’re the best.” She said with a smile, and Cat Noir could feel his heart beating faster.

“We should probably start patrol now.” Ladybug said, her confidence now restored as she sent her partner a dazzling smile that made his knees weak. “Okay,” Cat Noir squeaked as she waved, and swung off to patrol over her side of the city. Cat Noir knew he was supposed to go off and patrol his own side, but he couldn’t help but stare after where she had gone off to - his heart tangled in confusion.
