Amanda and I were snacking on grapes and we were watching a stupid reality show on the television, about people who believed they were vampires. I wanted nothing more than to smash my head repeatedly on the table, but luckily, there was a knock on the door. "I'll get it," I volunteered. I was willing to do anything to stop watching the show.

Amanda nodded without sparing me a glance as she continued eating grapes. "Oh my God, he's drinking his sister's blood!" she screeched.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "I thought only preteen girls fawned over vampires," I pointed out. "Besides, drinking too much blood is dangerous. You can have the risk of iron overdose, which can be very toxic. In fact, that condition is called haemochromatosis, which means-"

"Just shut up and answer the door, Einstein." She threw a grape at my head. "You ruin the fun out of anything."

"Sorry for trying to teach you something useful, idiot." I opened the door and was surprised to see Colton there. "Hayes? What're you doing here?" I hissed.

He raised his eyebrows. "You asked to borrow a suit."

I scratched the back of my head as I tried to remember. "Sorry, I forgot."

"Keaton told me about the incident earlier," he informed me. "Why didn't you tell me what was going on?"

"It happened all of a sudden. I didn't expect Keaton to be there, either. He just showed up at that time," I admitted.

"How's your back?" he asked.

I grimaced. "It hurts like a bitch."

"Face it, Jackson, you're getting old." Colton patted my shoulder sympathetically. "Here's the suit. Try not to ruin it." He handed me a hanger with a plastic sheet draped over it.

"Thanks, Hayes," I told him earnestly.

"If you ruin another suit, I will kill you," he warned.

I rolled my eyes. "I'm so scared."

Colton smiled wickedly. "Maybe I'll just pour lemonade on your back. Or rubbing alcohol. Whatever will cause the most pain."

My body suddenly felt rigid and my blood froze. "How did you know that?"

He gave me a confused look. "How did I know what?"

"Whatever will cause the most pain," I repeated. "That's what the leader of that other gang said about killing me." I gave Colton a stoic look. "Is there something you're not telling me?"

He looked at me as if I were insane. "Do you seriously think I'm working for the other gang?"

"Relax, I was just asking."

"How can I relax when you think I'm the enemy?" he shouted.

"Hayes, listen," I tried to reason.

"No, you listen," he growled. "I would risk my life for our whole damn gang; even Ryan! But if you think I'm the enemy, then go fuck yourself because I'm done." He turned around and began to walk away.

"What about your suit?" I called after him.

"Keep it," he spat. "If it touched your filthy hands, then I don't want it, you bastard." As I watched Colton storm into the elevator, I felt like the world's biggest dick. I knew it couldn't have been Colton, but I just got freaked out that he said the exact same thing the leader of the other gang, said.

"Who was your friend?" Amanda asked from behind me.

I accidentally let out a scream when I realized she was behind me for God knows how long. "When did you get here?" I demanded. I placed a hand on my heart as I tried to steady my breathing.
