Chapter 3

"Do you think she's going to like it?"

I ask Rocky, she's works at Sage's boutique

"I love it and most girls that come in here love it, she'd be a fool not to love it"

She says confidently, I look at the beautiful short silk dress sitting perfectly on the mannequin

"I don't know, her style is more simple you know?"

I tell her and she shrugs

"It's up to you Mr Langa"

I take a deep breath and take the hanger

"Ring it up before I change my mind"

I tell her and she chuckles taking the hanger from me, my phone rings and it's Sandi

"Squash"

I answer

"hey Squash, did she like the gifts?"

She asks and I chuckle at how excited she is. I have known Sandi for quite some time now. She's an upcoming writer, she's really good. I met her at an art thing and we just clicked. A friend of mine had signed a deal to have her work showcased at Mercy Bess's art show and we've been vibing since. She suggested that I send her small gifts to help her consider actually going on a date with me and I guess it did the trick because today we going out on a date.

"We going out today"

I tell her and she screams in excitement, typical girl, I remove the phone from my ear until she's done screaming

"You screaming as if I just told you she's pregnant with my baby, relax would you"

She laughs at my sarcasm

"remember, a date doesn't mean that by the end of tonight she'll be heaving under you begging you not to stop"

She warns and I laugh

"Thank you for always keeping me in check Squash. You really need to get a man and stop bothering yourself about me and my love life"

She laughs

"I am happy single ok! When I am ready I will start dating again, until then leave me alone. Good luck with the date and don't push too hard!"

I roll my eyes, she likes to play mother but she always means well

"Fine. I'll send you a picture of the dress I got her for the date, tell me what you think"

I tell her

"Ok cool, bye Squash"

She says and cuts the call, she always does that. I take a picture of the dress on the mannequin and then return to the till and hand over my card while sending the picture to Sandi, she calls me instantly

"I don't know, isn't it a bit too short for her since you said she was more into simple things?"

She asks

"It's not that short, it's sexy"

I say defensively

"I don't know Squash, I would think that you trying to smash"

I roll my eyes

"I'll send it to her and if she doesn't like it then we can always get another dress. It doesn't hurt to tweak your style here and ther"

She chuckles

"say what you will but I still don't think she'll be comfortable"

She says, I write down the address for Rocky to send it to and then leave the store

"Squash we'll talk later ok? Bye"

I say dismissively

"bye"

She says and I cut the call and head to studio first, I am happy that people are responding well to the snippet of the song and most of them want to know who inspired it, Inathi advised me against releasing it and just post a snippet of it and see how people respond to it. I have interviews lined up with radio stations and tv stations over the song. After studio I head out to fetch Asante.

I call her as soon as I park outside her building and she says she's coming, she walks out and looks around for my car and so I call her phone

"Hi"

She says

"Black Porsche"

I tell her and she looks around

"Black Porsche"

She says to Vela who points at my car parked opposite their building. She drops the call and then looks both ways before crossing the road with her friend. I get out

"Hey Asante, you look amazing"

I tell her and she smiles politely

"You too Asavela"

I say turning to her friend who smiles at me

"Hi Aaron"

She says with the biggest smile. I open the door for her and then open for her friend before going to my side of the car

"Asavela I hope you don't mind, I invited a friend of mine to join us"

I say looking at her through the mirror, Asante insisted on coming with Asavela under the basis of not knowing me enough and so I took it upon myself to ask Lumi to join us

"I don't mind, thank you for inviting me"

She says

"Not like I had a choice. Pretty sure your friend did this for you"

I say arrogantly while stealing a glance at Asante, they chuckle

"Had to beg her to do this for me"

Vela says and Asante rolls her eyes, we at the robots when I lean in closer to her ear and whisper

"The things I would do to you if we were alone and you did that"

I say that squeezing her thigh before returning my hand on the gear leaving her confused. The dress looks as I had imagined it would on her, she looks fucking sexy, fuckable even. I increase the volume

"That's you singing"

Vela points out

"Yeah, it's the song I'll be shooting a video for, it's still in the works. Sante what do you think?"

I ask that stealing a glance at Asante

"Sounds nice I guess"

Asante says coldly, I chuckle to myself

"I love it, like your every other song"

Vela says like a love sick fan, I'm hoping she can convince her friend to roll with me

"Thank you but none of you can talk about this song or mention it to anyone"

I say to them

"Don't worry about me opening my mouth"

Asante says quickly and I don't doubt it

"Don't worry my lips are also sealed"

Vela also says and I nod and focus my attention back on the road
