"You pregnant?"
I repeat and it's more of a question than it is a statement.
"Yes"
She says. Asante and I never quite spoke about having kids and even when people asked us we always brushed it off and after reading her book her response to the question made so much sense. I sit up and switch on the beside lamp and so does she
"You were out drinking tonight"
I say and she shakes her head no
"I was in a club with my friends drinking juice all night"
She says
"Are we happy?"
I ask her not sure how to react and she nods
"Are you?"
She asks me
"I never thought you wanted kids, with how you always used to avoid the topic and brush it off, I always assumed that having kids was just not anywhere near your future"
I admit honestly and she smiles
"And here I was thinking you the one that didnt want to have children. I'm glad you want this baby as much as I do"
She says and I smile and turn to her pulling her to sit on top of me
"We having a baby snowflake! We pregnant!"
I say unable to contain my excitement
"How far are you?"
I ask her as she giggles laughing at how happy I am
"5 months"
She says and I frown
"How? You still so tiny and you not showing."
I point out and she shrugs
"I went to the doctor and she confirmed that I was indeed pregnant. Remember when I said I missed my period and we took a test and it came out negative?"
She reminds and I nod
"Yeah I remember"
I lie because I dont remember the conversation really
"Well last month I noticed how I havent had my period in such a long time and decided to go see a doctor and I found out I was pregnant"
She explains and I hug her tightly burying my face in her boobs
"Thank you for this. I promise I will be here for you enough. I promise to never miss anything from hereon"
I promise her
"Dont do that, dont put what happened to me on you Aaron. Music is your job, it's your life"
She says, I inhale and then exhale slowly
"You my wife and you pregnant with my first born. You and this baby are my life."
I say and then I look up at her and then she cups my face and kisses me. I say and she shifts to the other side allowing me to sit on the bed. She sits up
"Morning. Give your baby daddy a kiss"
She giggles
"You're annoying for waking me up. Let me wash my teeth first and then we can eat"
She says
"Yeah, dont look at your neck while you at it"
I say and she frowns getting off the bed and turning to look at me
"I cannot have hickies"
She says in terror and I shrug
"You havent even been here for 24 hours and already I want you to leave again"
She mumbles walking to the bathroom. I chuckle to myself and check my socials and I find that my road manager has posted the video this morning and a few people are cursing and hating on me while my fans are in support of me and want details of the book as soon as it's out. I lock my phone and place it facedown as Snowflake walks in
"Baby, tell me something"
She starts off sitting next to me
"What my love"
I ask
"Your tour. You went MIA for like a week."
She says and I place the tray on my lap and we start to dig in
"I finished the book within a day. Barely ate or did anything that day and then the next couple of days I went through the most. I kept trying to understand you and why you kept everything from me. I'd re-read it with hopes it was not what I had read. I mean it couldn't possibly be that tou went through all of that and yet you are still here and still open to love. How do you feel about this pregnancy?"
She takes a deep breath and let's it out
"At first I was scared, I thought of aborting out of fear, I mean what kind of mother am I gonna be? The choices I made scared me but after talking to Dr Khambula I realized that my past doesnt define my future. I have a loving and supportive husband and I know that he will never let me go through this alone and so it got easier to accept until you disappeared on me. I didnt know what to think, I reached the conclusion that you were gone and never going to be mine again"
She explains as I feed her in between. I exhale
"We going to be the best parents we can be. Together?"
I say holding out my pinky
"Together!"
