Chapter 16

ONE WEEK LATER

"Aaron Langa thank you again for accepting our proposal. I hope you went through the contract with your lawyer and you are happy with what we have to offer"

she says and i nod sliding the contract towards her, she smiles going through it

"We made a couple of changes, go through them and see if you approve and we'll take it from there"

I say and she nods smiling going through the contract

"Not bad, I think we can work with this amount. We already have a few offers from well known celebrities wanting to do collabs with you"

She says and I can't help the smile that grows on my face

"Yeah?"

She nods

"I will send you a list of the few that would like to work with you. We'll send them your charge rates and everything. Also we got an email from E-News wanting to do an interview with you and a few magazines and newspapers who want to interview you about you signing with us. It's a big deal after all and it will do good for your career"

She says and I nod

"This is great"

I say unable to contain the excitement

"Now I understand that you have your life outside our label and as much as your life is yours, we would like you to be discreet about certain things you do outside here as it reflects badly on us and should you bring bad publicity our way then we won't hesitate to drop you as it states clearly on the contract"

She reminds and I chuckle

"I don't plan on ruining this. I'm a well behaved person"

She chuckles

"Oh sweetheart, that's what they all say when they get here. Hollywood may change you Aaron"

She says and I shrug

"I don't believe that one single bit but we will see"

I say and she chuckles

"Here are your apartment keys, your address and your car keys. We will be taking a certain percentage from your sales with us until we can pay off the apartment and the car. Should you decide to get a house please do talk to me first and then we will take it from there"

She says

"Considering my contract is for 3 years I would like a house, maybe 3 bedrooms, a pool in the back yard, nice open plan kitchen, lounge and all and please don't forget a game room and a cinema in the house"

She chuckles

"You do know that if we buy you a house then you will have to pay if off for years right?"

She asks and I shrug

"I have a few millions in my bank account, surely they should be enough to assist in me getting the house I want. I heard the label chips in about 30 percent to assist in getting a house"

She smiles

"I see you did your research? I'm impressed. I will have someone accompany you in searching for the house you want then. If we done here I would like to excuse you for my next meeting"

She says looking at her watch, I nod getting up and fixing myself. I hold my hand out to her

"It was nice doing business with you"
she smiles at me

"Like wise Aaron. We look forward to working with you"

I walk out of her office and make my way downstairs in the elevator. I log in on Instagram and stalk Asante but she hasn't posted anything new in a long time. I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss her. As soon as I get inside my car I get a call from Lumi. I answer connecting the phone to Bluetooth

"Cuz"

I say

"Hey you. How's the big apple?"

He asks and I chuckle

"Hello Lumi, I am good thank you and how are you?"

I ask him and he laughs

"Aaron Langa how are you? How's the big apple treating you cuz?"

He asks and I laugh

"I haven't gone out much, lets revisit this conversation after a month. How's home?"

I ask him and he sighs

"You mean Asante?"

He asks and I don't respond

"You need to let her go man. Vela tells me she's changed ever since you left"

He says and I let out a sigh

"She's not the Asante you met Aaron, she's hanging out with some uncle that came out of nowhere and she dresses differently now and leads a different lifestyle. Vela is worried about her"

He says, I always ask him about her and he tells me the little details he can about that, details he gets from Vela

"She hangs out with older men in clubs Aaron and nothing like the Asante I was introduced to, she's a slay queen now"

He says and I don't respond to him

"You need to focus on your life and move on from her"

He says

"Thank you Lumi for the update. I just got to my new apartment, I'll videocall you and show you what it looks like"

He chuckles

"I look forward to it. Bye Cuz, I just picked up Vela"

He says

"Hello Aaron, how are you? We miss you here, mostly Lumi and Asante"

She says and I chuckle, I'm glad she and my cousin decided to get with each other because Lumi is a good guy and Vela is a good person and deserves someone who will treat her right

"I miss you too. I am good, let me not keep you guys from your date"

I say and she chuckles

"Your cousin doesn't know what a date looks like, to him a date is going to his apartment to Netflix and chill"

We all laugh

"I thought you enjoyed netflixing and chilling with your man?"

He says and I chuckle

"Bye you guys. Have fun"

I say and then cut the call not waiting for them to respond. I switch off the engine and then get out of the car and make my way into my apartment. I'm shocked to see it furnished already, I give myself a tour and then take a pamphlet and order myself something to eat and then shower while waiting for the food. As soon as I am done the door bell rings and I make my way to pay for the food and take it. As I am eating I call mom

"Hello baby"

She says

"Hey mom, how are you?"

I ask her and she sighs

"nothing much just work being a lot to handle"

She says

"hows's Asante? Is therapy helping?"

I ask her, she had told me that Asante started seeing Thabisa Khambula

"You know we can't be talking about such, I would lose my licence"

She reminds

"I understand the risk but mom I need to know that she's getting help. You need to help her one of the other"

I plead and she sighs

"Aaron I tried. I can only do so much to help her, if she doesn't want my help then there's really nothing I can do to help her"

She says, she still hasn't told me what happened to Asante and nothing I said got her to tell me

"I just need her to get help that's all mom, please"
